Timing for a long weekend trip

I know this subject comes up frequently but I wonder if you could all humor me by going through it again.

We live in FL and would like to do a long weekend kind of trip sometime between now and when school lets out. The only thing is, with our luck, the weekend we pick will probably be somebody's spring break or mid-winter recess. Obviously we'd like to plan it around days our kids have either a Fri or a Mon off from school.

Well, I'm rambling....the actual question is If you could go to Disney for any 4 day weekend between now and summer, when would you go? And why? Also, If you can name any particular weekends to avoid that would be awesome.

Thanks to all the experts out there! The one hard and fast rule we have in regards to Disney is to Never, ever under any circumstances go to the Magic Kingdom on a Saturday. If we're ever at the world on a weekend, Saturday is Epcot day!

I've always had good luck, weather and crowd wise, the first couple weekends in May.

I've heard the end of Jan is pretty empty and the end of Feb although we've never tried these.

We're going Martin Luther King weekend. I'm sure it will be crowded but with DD in college it's hard to get away like we used to. One thing about January is that it's value season and FL residence rates are excellent! Rates go up in February (can't remember the date but I think around the 12th) to peak season rates. We'll probably go back in May when the rates will be back down to regular season rates. We went at the beginning of May last year and it was nice! We probably won't get to go again until Sept. when the rates are down again - We have seasonal passes so most of the summer is blocked out.

I am taking my mother the weekend of Feb. 7. When I checked flights.....every single one was still open, while the next weekend was almost totally booked. I'm hoping that means that we will not run into many crowds traveling that particular weekend!
