As someone who is looking at all the resale venues I must say that the TRPC website alone rubs me the wrong way. Just for example...

The following point packages are priced fairly and generally sell quickly, but you may make an offer moderately below the asking price

combined with a listing like this...

150 Haney Old Key West no 2002 maint. February 150 0 now; 150 on 2-1-03 $9,750

doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth. The implication is that offers well below the asking price aren't welcome, but most of the asking prices are well above where deals are taking place elsewhere. not to mention in many cases above the price that Disney is asking.

This listing is $65 per point, with nothing until February 2003. Just for comparison, last week you could have purchased VWL from Disney for $65 a point with next points coming in August, 2002, a full six month earlier (assuming you sold your 2001 point back to Disney with MB). In fact this OKW listing is only $5 cheaper than buying BCV from Disney right now, and with BCV you get an extra years points (although you can't use them until later this year)!!

There are plenty of similar listings on the site, in fact almost all of them are similar. At the extreme, if you go through the "sold" listings there is even one for OKW which was offered at over $83 per point. I feel bad for the guy who submitted the offer "moderately below the asking price" on that one. I hope he had it "time stamped" (as they say on the site) so someone else didn't beat him to it.

Obviously this is JMHO, I suggest anyone who is interested go to the site and decide for themselves.

I beg to differ. Now, I personally haven't used this site, but it does to seem to have the lowest prices(probably b/c its not as known). For example, a hh contract for 59 a point with 300 points to use before the end of may and 150 on june 1st all for 59 a point. Now, I know thats not alot of time, but 300 points is 300 points..... You just have to check it often. Look at some of the crossed out ones they have sold. I remember the day the 150 BWV came up for 59 a point, it was gone in a day and half. Just realize that the deals that are always there are the ones nobody thinks are that great, you have to check often for the really good ones.;)

I realize this, but at the top of the site it doesn't say "check back often, sometimes we have good deals and if you are fast enough you might get one".

It says...

"The following point packages are priced fairly and generally sell quickly"

This is not only misleading, it is categorically untrue. Add on the bit about only allowing an "offer moderately below the asking price", and what you have are sales tactics (atleast on the web-site) that rub me the wrong way. Still worth checking for deals, but not on par with the other two.

Again, JMHO and thank you for your comments.

I wouldn't cut my nose of to spite my fact and the reality is that all of the established timeshares sales I'm familiar with work this way to some degree or the other. A few but not most are willing to present low ball offers. I haven't talked to this company directly but would certainly do so if I were looking specifically for a resale. Frankly, I find the resale sights on the DVC inside to be much higher than any of the other sources I've checked in the past. Remember it's their job to get the most money they can for a listing. They are working for the seller and not for you as a buyer no matter how friendly they are. I can't begrudge them from trying to set things up so people don't waste their time. I'm sure that anything within the basic range that DVC won't buy it back is welcome, say $55 pp or higher.

Dean, what do you mean on the inside compared to other sources?

I mean TST and ATIMESHARE.COM and possibly Lee Reid's site as well. I suspect in the past they have actually attempted to hold on the price essentially "fixing" the price of resales. Currently that may or may not be a problem. When you find resale at other places, they can frequently be bought cheaper than through these places.
