To all of you knowledgeable brave people who have attented the timeshare presentations for discounted tickets and such at various resorts I have a question about kids at these presentations. We will be going to Cypress Point resort and want to do a presentation just to get tickets to a dinner show. We have a 5 1/2 year old who is not in any way shy about being around other kids without dear ole Mom and Dad.

Some questions: Is this a long presentation?

Is there a lot of pressure at this resort?

What do you do with the kids, do they have crayons or coloring books?

I hear that some of these resorts have a seperate playroom or game room, which I am not thrilled about however, I don't think my 5 1/2 yr old would mind, especially if there are other kids to play with.....how do those work, have any of you used them?

Any tips/suggestions? Thanks in advance!

There is a little playroom which seemed to be well supervised for the kids. Our 9 and 4 year old went in there while we did the presentation.

We were told 90 minutes, and even after our very firm NOs, it took us 2.5 hours to get our disney dollars and get out of there. They write down what time they begin, and that is AFTER you are done eating the breakfast which takes about 30 minutes, and they are spending that time questioning you, getting to know you. So, honestly, we wasted about 3 hours. We felt they were very pressuring, and our salesperson brought several other people over to put the pressure on us to try and get us to cave in. We escaped alive though :goodvibes This was the only time we have ever done a presentation so I have no comparison, maybe there are others that are even worse.

They did offer us dinner theatre tickets, but we held out, then they offered disney dollars, then offered more disney dollars, and then we caved in. That seemed to be the best value. We received 100 but someone else has posted they held out and got 150 disney dollars :earseek:

The presentation is done in one big open room (the breakfast room) and you sit at a table with your salesperson. Other people are at other tables all around you, so its not like a very private event.

After the 90 minutes were up and we couldnt get out of there, I went and got the kids out of the playroom, hoping that their rowdiness might help get us out of there faster, but that didnt help.

We might consider doing one again in the future (as we might purchase somewhere in the next 2-3 years), if I knew it wouldnt be such high pressure.

NO MATTER WHAT, YOU WONT GET OUT IN UNDER 90 MINS!!!!

Ive never been to one at Cypress point but Ive been to a ton in Mexico and Hawaii. Most of the time, they will tell you, "this is a non pressure sales pitch, Im obviously trying to sell you a vacation property". Bottom line is though, is that it is a pressure sales pitch, because they offer you what seems to be such a "good" deal at the end of the pitch, because it usually involves 50% or a free week, etc... If you still plan on attending, I would bring something for your child to do. Im old enough now (15) and interested in sales, where I love to watch the salesmans tactics of marketing.
