Has anyone done the timeshare presentation at the Sheraton Vistana Village? Is it really only 90 minutes? DO they schedule the time or do you choose?
Just wondering, I got a deal from them for 5days/4 nights for $149 and ther resort looks beautiful. Just wondering if it is worth it...

TIA

I received this offer also, and am also wondering how "high pressure" the sale is. No amount of savings is worth some of the nastiness I've heard about at other time share places.....

I just got back from Marriott's Cypress Harbour timeshare where I had to go to a "90" minute presentation of Marriott's Grande Vista. Got there at 10:15 and didn't leave till 1:00. The salesman was nice enough but all the talking, talking, talking made me want to go take a nap. I was a bit surprised how expensive they were, and never intended to buy one. When we told the guy we couldn't actually afford it, he told us to take out a home equity loan!!! It wasn't exactly hard sell pressure, but I couldn't wait to get out of there. I did like the villa at Cypress Harbour though, but wouldn't buy especially when I looked online and saw what that the resale prices are a fraction of what they new ones cost.

We did the Vistanta Resort sales pitch. We didn't go because of this, but it was offered to us whilst staying there. It definitely wasn't a hard core pitch, just the usual and they released us fairly quickly with a $100 bill in our hand. We would do it again. Almost paid for one night and it was worth an hour, or so, of our time.

How did you get information on the timeshare presentation at grand marriott. I was just told my a vacation rep that they don't that anymore. I think he was giving me a line. I am interested in stayed at one of the resorts and doing the timeshare presentation at a great rate.

Not Vistana related, but in Puerto Vallarta Mexico, I got $550 US to go on a 2 hr timeshare tour. You can imagine how angry they were when we said NO!!

marriott absolutely does this still you were given wrong info! Just call the resort directly and ask for the sales office. they will take care of you!

Generally going on a timeshare presentation is not a good idea for getting Disney tickets, although it might be good for Universal or Sea World or Busch Garden tickets. If you have to buy a new Disney ticket anyway for the rest of your vacation, the value of the timeshare ticket may be miniscule.

If the presentation is advertised as 90 minutes, you are not obligated to spend more than 90 minutes not counting the free continental breakfast.

We just got an offer to go to Marriott's Grand Vista for 5 days/4 nights for $199 plus $100 in certificates for tickets - is this a good deal? It looks like so to me - providing I can convince DH to sit through a time share presentation. LOL We dont need the tickets - but the $199 rate looks good on the surface.

Is this the resort that is refurbishing and we should ask for redone rooms? Does anyone have any hints when I call of what to ask for?

Thanks!! :)

Grande Vista has both new and older units. They are refurbishing the older units. So, if you go, be sure to ask for a new or refurbished unit.
But a word of caution. Be sure to read the offer carefully to see if it includes accomodations at the resort or not. Frequently timeshare offers only promise a hotel room, not a room at the resort.

Thanks John! It does say "guestroom accomodations at Marriot's Grande Vista Resort" - I'm thinking I'm going to call then - and specify new or refurbished. Thank you!!!

How did you get the offer for the grand vista? Is there a phone number you could give me or a promotion number? Thank you

I did the timeshare presentation at the Vistana 2 years ago. Had a great guy who basically just gave me a tour of the place and let me go. It was a breeze.

welovewdw, we're doing the same promotion the first week in April. If you're going after that I'll be sure to post a review so you'll have a good idea of what went on.

I want to get in on the deal, how did you get it? Our you staying in a 2 bedroom.

My husband and I did the timeshare presentation last Spring Break at Vistana Villages. It was pretty low key compared to the high pressure sales of Westgate or OLCC. We just politely told the rep that we were not interested as we felt the resort was more family oriented and as we will be retired in a few years and we haven't found a timeshare yet that meets all of our requirements; we would continue to look before we would buy. The rep appeared a little ticked with us, because we were so firm in our answers and repeatedly stated that we were losing a fabulous opportunity and would never be able to holiday at VV again as we wouldn't be allowed to return. We were out before the 90 minutes was up, grabbed our 2 Free Disney tickets and went on our merry way. LOL
By the way, we return on Friday for 8 nights as a friend of mine traded into Vistana Villages and is sending me as her Guest! I wonder if they will try to talk us into the timeshare presentation this year. I doubt if my husband and I will bother as this time it is a RCI exchange and the presentation is not compulsory! The resort is absolutely fabulous and still remains one of our favs! :hourglass

If anyone has info on this I would appreciate it... We have stayed at Vistana Resort twice but would like to consider buying at Vistana Villages. I called tonight and all they had was:
4 day/3 night = $249 includes either (2) 1 day tickets to Disney plus (2) 1 day tickets to a water park, also includes dinner for 2 at Planet Hollywood and movie tickets. (OR) you can substitute Disney for (2) 7 day tickets at Universal.,...still the same dinner/movie..
When I asked why offer a 7 day ticket with a 4 day package and she said you can upgrade...
Go from a 1 bed to 2 bed for $125
then you can upgrade by adding additional nights for $120n

**Plus taxes on everything upon check out.....
Didn't sound too good of a deal (October) last year through allearsnet we got a 2 bed for $109/n. + they called us a few times during our stay and kept upping the ante if we'd take the tour... Basically works out to the same but you get the tickets, which we already have... Don't quite understand why they don't have more of an incentive....

I can't seem to find ANY more deals for the VV, the rates per night have doubled and sometimes TRIPLED across the board. Last year you could get an affordable accommodation on hotelkingdom or hotels.com but NO MORE....
