Timeshare Excuses Needed

Tell them you just got a call from the Invitro Dr. and that you are pregnant with 5, and this is just not the right time!

As a timeshare veteran of about a decade and current owner of five weeks, I would suggest you rethink this statement. In fact, some of the smaller resorts in the best seasons in good locations are the very best to own. That is because the demand may be far higher than the supply. Therefore, you can use the exchange companies to trade your week for almost anything.

Some of these small resorts are well managed and have reasonable maintenance fees. While the Marriotts are pretty nice resorts, they have very high maintenance fees and aren't the best choice for all.

JMHO.

Let me rephrase: I think the small, independent places that can only offer you unit #112 on the 40th week of each year are worthless. I'm talking about the type of time share that doesn't offer trades, but rather requires that you return to the exact same resort year after year.

My grandparents bought into two of these -- one at the mountains, one at the beach -- years ago, and after about five years, they were very tired of having the same room, same resort, same time every year. The time shares were un-sellable, and they eventually just did a quit-claim deed to return them to the builders.

I like both of these!

On our last trip we attended TWO different presentations only for the cheap tickets. The first one was very pushy and we kept saying no and came up with all sorts of excuses but of course they have a comebacl for everything, they are slick! We are only obligated to stay 90 minutes and that is what Florida law states. However we stayed for 3 1/2 hrs!! They brought in the "closer" and the "real hard nosed closer" and then they finally gave up beating a dead horse and gave us our tickets. The next one that week we were alot wiser and refused right from the get-go. We said that we were there for the cheap tickets but to give us his hardest sell for the next 90minutes and you just never know! Well after 90 he asked what we thought and we said no thank you and that we wanted our tickets now. He offered us one last chance at a week every other year for a very reasonable offer but we declined because we really didn't like the resort or we may have! just be firm after the 90minutes and leave (with your tickets of course!!) If you ask alot of informed questions and seem to know what you are talking about they tend to end the presentation early because they know that you know as much as they do!

IF you ever decide to buy NEVER accept their first offer.......it always gets better as you keep saying no!! Our first one went from 22000 to 8500 after 3 hours!!!!! :rotfl:

Just do what we always do Be Honest. Tell them you are only there for the freebies. That always upsets them. Put in your 90 minute tour that is all you have to give them once breakfast is over and after 90 minutes stand up and tell them you would now like your freebies. Sounds hard, but its the TRUTH. Always works for us.

Be carefull about saying that you are not credit worthy or that you don't meet the income requirements. If you don't meet minimum income requirements or are not credit worthy they are not required to give you the freebies or the discount room rate. This is usually in fine print on the offer you receive or the ad you respond to. While they do not check this information, if you give it as an excuse not to buy, they can come back and say you're not eligilbe for the incentives.

I like the just found out we're expecting 5 excuse.

Seriously though, you really do not have to give them an excuse other than sorry, we are not interested at this time.
