Has anyone from Canada ever booked a timeshare package for Orlando? I have been checking into one,but was told that they were not available to Canadians. They certainly don't mind approaching us to do one when we are there, but I would like to schedule one in advance. We are interested in the Calypso Cay resort. Would like to stay at the Amerisusites. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for any help. I think this board is great for information.

R U booking or buying a timeshare?

I know lots of folks who have timeshares in the US. DVC is a timeshare but they can only sell directly to folks in Ontario, there are some other hoops to jump through for the rest of the provinces. Maybe that company does not want to do that???

For a rental, I just rented Summerbay through Skyauction no problems.

If you call them, I don't think it's a problem for some companies...

We're from NS as well, and I *almost* booked a 4 night stay/timeshare tour last year..I think they were going to charge us $129 for a one bedroom, IIRC:) Decided to rent a house instead:)

Poke around on this site, I think it's the one I got info for last time:)

We were just wanting to tour the Calypso Cay resort. We like the area, not really planning to buy at this time. We stayed at the Amerisuites in that location last year, but did not do a tour. Would like to stay at the AS again.

Aahh:)

Then before you go, you could call their front desk, and ask for the Ownership Development Office;) - that's what I would do, anyway - and book a day then...if they can't do that, ask them how to get in touch with them there...and ask what they are offering as "gifts" for attending.

If you really want to "play the game"...when they tell you what they've got for incentives...sigh, and ask "oh..is that all?"

Good luck, take lots of pictures, and don't buy from the developer, if you do become tempted;) Wait and get in touch with a resale office...Tom Yeary from The Timeshare Store, here on the DIS, is great:)

Have fun..!!LOL!

When we looked in to the DVC while at Disney earlier this month, they told us that when you are there talking to them while on Disney property, it doesn't matter which province you are from, you can by into the program, as long as you do it before you leave for home. However, if you go home later on and decide you want to buy into the program, the only province in Canada that will allow that is Ontario. All the other provinces do not allow you to buy real estate thru the mail.

Finding the link for a Calypso Cay Resort:)

Let me know the deal you get. That place looks really, really nice! It looks like the only stipulations about citizenship occur if you want the free Disney passes (that is the timeshare tour part)

dennise,
yes the resort looks amazing. Please post the resort discount deal that you were offered if you don't mind.
Thank you

I am still looking, thanks everyone for all the help, if I can swing a deal, I'll let you know. We stayed at the Amerisuites at Calypso Cay last year and really liked it. Must have if we want to stay again. We didn't have time for tour at that time, too many things to do and not enough time to do them.

Thanks again!
