Aloha Fellow Disers! Here is my timeline with some afterthoughts, lessons learned and just plain old 2cents.
ETA: Have no idea why the columns look so funky. Can't seem to fix it. Sorry

08/2006 First intro to DVC at WDW kiosk
03/2012 Planning a trip to WDW, remembered DVC, googled and discovered Resale and the Dis Boards
That week Signed up for Resale email notifications from 5 brokers
4/05/2012 Signed up for Dis Board to ask a question
4/20/2012 Decided to make an offer, left message
4/23/2012 Left second message, broker returned call, 3 emails between us
4/25/2012 Sent another email asking about the requests I made
Found out Disney was, at the time, ROFRing all OKW under a certain price, contacted and confirmed this with two other agencies
4/27/2012 Found out Sellers had used up most of the banked points, I put everything on hold
5/02/2012 Made another offer on same contract by phone and email
5/04/2012 Offer accepted with clarification on MF’s, I immediately accepted
5/08/2012 After several inquiries finally got contract, signed and email back
5/11/2012 Sent email asking about Seller’s contract, no reply
5/14/2012 Sent another email asking about Seller’s contract, no reply, called at the end of the day. Notified that contracts needed to be resent to sellers.
5/17/2012 Notified contract sent to Disney for ROFR
6/12/2012 Notified Disney waived ROFR
6/13/2012 Sent in payment to expedite process
6/19/2012 Received Closing Documents,
6/20/2012 Signed, Sealed and Sent FEDEX overnight
6/25/2012 Notified that documents were received (note overnight from Hi is 5 days, lol)
7/03/2012 Waiting on Title Company
7/05/2012 Notified that Disney has been notified and can take up to 2 weeks to load points
Advised by broker to call membership so I can set up on line access and see when points load, gave me all pertinent information and phone number. I called, spoke with a person who was very unhelpful.
7/10/2012 Posted on the Dis, helpful diser sent me to the Orange County Comptroller website to view my deed.
7/13/2012 Called membership, got a very helpful person who said I was good to go, sent me to very nice tech support to set up access, who then said I was all loaded but there was a problem with my account to call back in 2 days
7/18/2012 Gave it 5 days, called, everything was good to go. Made first reservations!
7/27/2012 Received welcome letter only
8/02/2012 Received Cards only

Offer to Deed: 2 months or 9 weeks or 65 days
Offer to Reservations: 2 ½ months or 11 weeks or 77 days
Offer to Cards: 3 months or 13 weeks or 93 days

Afterthoughts, lessons learned and just plain old 2cents:

DVC Resale:

1. DVC Resale is a game of patience. Be prepared to wait, within reason. My 2Cents: Research on average how long each step will take. If you find yourself taking longer, then call.

2. Research and read as much as you can.

3. Get a game plan ie. How many points, Uy, Home Resort, etc. Otherwise it can be overwhelming.

4. Get on the resale mailing lists.

5. Don’t get tied to a contract, it’ll make you do silly things.

6. Figure out how your agent/broker best communicates and work with it. ie. I prefer email, my broker preferred phone calls. If it wasn’t important, I’d email and waited a few days for response. If it was important I called and got immediate response.

Disboard specifically:

1. The more you read, the more likely you will develop Add-on-itis. If you do not want this affliction, you need to walk away from your computer. NOW. I see you’re not taking me seriously. I would try and convince you but I’m busy looking at more contracts.

Stuff I found helpful:

1. There are 3 main resale sites plus 2 others I found helpful. Google key words: DVC Resale Broker Agency Listings.

2. The invaluable “ROFR” thread maintained by Donaldis#1 (and sometimes other wonderful posters) is located here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2661661

3. Orange County Comptroller website: http://www.occompt.com/

4. Direct link to document search: http://or.occompt.com/recorder/web/?

And finally, MAHALO NUI LOA everyone for your help and input on my first DVC Resale journey!

Loved this post! Pretty much sums up the process.

Congrats on your successful transaction!

My deed showed up Friday. When do you think I could contact member services to set up my account? Should the title company contact me or will it be the broker of the points? It just looked form your time line that you contacted member services right after the deed was filed.
Great post BTW

Thank You belias21! I'm so excited about being new dvc owners.

I was told by a standard form letter email from my agent/broker and from my research that typically it takes approximately two weeks from the time the deed is recorded and the time it takes to get your paperwork in the mail (much longer to Hawaii). However when I asked my agent/broker what the next step was, she told me to just call membership admin (choice 2 then choice 2 on the menu) and usually they can set you up sooner. If you get Tammy, she'll tell you to wait the entire 2 weeks before calling. If you get Amber or Kevin, they'll help set you up if your account has been inputted, other wise they'll let you know exactly when to call back. IMO I would wait about 5-7 days and call and check.

btw: CONGRATULATIONS! Hope you get to make reservations soon!

ETA: sorry, forgot to answer your other questions. In my case, The title company will only send some paperwork followed by DVC sending a welcome letter, followed by membership cards. I'm still waiting on my DVC package. When you call membership and if your account is ready to go, then they will set you up with on-line access.
