Timeframe to book @ II

My husband and I are thinking of taking a trip abroad this Summer to England or Italy. What are our chances of booking this close to a trip?

Thanks...I have to ask, why do you say "be cautious"? Is there something we should be aware of other doing some homework and reseaching the resort they are offering us?

some of the timeshares in Europe aren't up to American standards...plus you will probably need a car....

how about renting your points - then going with a hotel room?????

Always, with any exchange. You need to do your homework and not rely on DVC to do it for you. For this summer for Europe, that is tough even if you plan 2 years out. But it never hurts to try.

When I say "be cautious" I don't mean to imply that anyone in DVC or II will try to cheat you--only that some resorts are not as high quality as DVC. Doing your homework reading recent resort reviews and asking questions on this board are the sorts of things that can help protect you against disappointment.

Thanks for the advice everyone. After talking it over for a few days, I think that we might forego trying to exhange our points for Europe. We really want to see and do a lot in a few different countries. I think we'll be moving around too much to commit to one resort for a week.
