Time to reprice summer points

Looking at the availability at WDW, I find myself thinking, they really need to reexamine travel period 4. It seems the points charts are showing a lot of availability - and we are in April.

I know some will say it is because the weather is so miserable, but if that's the case, I feel it reinforces the problem. There's a reason, for example, why that grand villa in Hilton head is so cheap in the winter....

September, as travel period 1, despite being a time when families cannot travel as easily as summer, shows far more limited availability... and generally speaking the weather is worse and the likelihood of a hurricane impacting travel is higher...

so it indicates to me that if priced right, June and July could also have tighter availability...

I wonder where they could add those points into...

I noticed the same. Summer has become WDW’s slow season.

The obvious place to adjust those points is in December, but the problem there is that period is only 3 weeks while summer season is 3 times as long. For every 1 point taken from summer, 3 points would need to be added in December.

They could also add points in the fall season (October). I hate to say this because we travel in October and December so it would negatively effect our trips, especially since we only own 100 points, but subtracting from one season would not necessarily require that they add to only one season, right? As long as it balances overall, they are still in compliance.

They made summer changes back a few years ago. It took two or three charts to achieve where we are now since they can’t do more than a 20% shift year to year for each use day.

September has less availability because it’s the lowest, and those of us who don’t need to travel in summer, now book then.

Plus, even with school back, many families will go because it’s not quite as crazy hot as summer

My guess is that the next change that could happen would be early December gets higher but since summer is a lot of weeks, it’s not as easy to make shifts without that several year timeframe.

Or maybe take from June-August and adjust into May, September and December.

My guess is Early May and December would be prime targets.... maybe January as well? But a lot of folks don't like January...

Could they add another band? Maybe March moves up even higher due to the spring breaks etc.

I would actually like for them to raise the first week of december so I CAN travel then. It is extremely popular and the points def dont reflect that

There used to be 7 and they reduced it to 5. But yes, they can do that.

The bigger problem is that summer demand is just never going to be as high as fall/December due to the holidays.
