I'm down to 25 days until my trip. The family and I are excited. It will have been nearly 2 years since our last trip. My parents are joining us this time for what will the longest WDW vacation any of us have had, 10 days. We're staying at POP for the entire time (need to cut costs to make the trip longer).
We started planning our trip last December. I booked my airfare the second week of January, which has saved me big time as they have only gone up since. To maximize our time at the world, our flight is one of the earliest leaving that morning. We are scheduled to land at MCO around 11:30 giving us half the day at the parks.
We're using Magical Express, as none of us plan on leaving property. We've also got the dining plan. Unfortunately, we are not arriving on a date that gave us free dining, but I've studied the menus for all the restaurants (both counter and table) and the plan will either break even or save us just a few dollars and I'd rather have the food budgeted and paid for before we get there. With the recent increase in soda prices at the world, it only helps my cause.
On my last trip I began filming video of our planning and packing 5 days prior to leaving. I'm kind of a video nut and feel that this year, I'll start even earlier.
I'm trying to think of things I need to do before I go, besides pack, and the only thing I can can think of is purchase my Photopass CD in advance. We used the Photopass last trip and came home with over 100 fabulous photos and a few that were bla or out of focus. Getting the early order discount is well worth it and something I need to do this week.
My wife and I spent weeks (back in April and early May) planning our schedule at the parks and determining our ADRs. Some of them are at our favorites and others will be first time eats.
We took our little princess to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, but are not on this trip. Were brining a Disney dress we got from the Disney Store on line and will do our own BBB for a day. But just because we're not doing the BBB, were planning on doing the Pirates League instead and not one but both kids. We might even join them and add an adult or two.
Its hard top believe but there are still rides at the world that I haven't been on. But this trip, each of us have a short MUST DO list. Mine includes the updated Space Mountain, which had just recently reopened before our last trip, and Rocken Roller Coaster which has been there for my past two trips but never had time to get to. There are others too, but I won't bore you with them all.
As the departure date comes closer I am having more question asked more questions. I'm both the WDW and the travel expert. I love WDW and am always listening and reading up on news plus my job has me travel from time to time. This trip is a mile stone as I see it. My father has only flown once and that was back in the 1950s. The plane was a twin engine prop plain from Eastern Iowa to Huston Texas. He told me he watched engine oil drip off the back of the wing the whole trip down and the flight took over three hours. Our trip has us going from Des Moines, Iowa through Atlanta with a 45 minute layover and will still take just over 3 hours. My Mom is the bigger issue. She has never flown on a commercial flight, ever. She hates heights, so much that stepping on a small stool will make her hands sweat. I think going with the grandkids will help her. But without any experience with flying or TSA has raised a lot of questions.
As the days start to fly by, we are all hoping they'll start slowing down so our trip doesn't go by so quickly.
