My baby just left for high school.

I have a DD 16 and DS 13. DS just left for his first day of high school. When did this happen. He can't be old enough for that. It always seemed like he was too young for school, whether it was preschool, elementary school, or middle school. I guess because he is the youngest, he will always be my baby.

Everyone hug your kids, they grow up SOOO fast.

The days are long, but the years are very short!

Time marches on, doesn't it??? I still feel like I'm 25. And my son, at 8, is beyond my understanding. WHEN did this all happen???

but eventually the grandchildren start coming, so you can look forward to enjoying watching THEM grow up too!!!

Carol, I think you are suffering from an impending "empty nest" syndrome! We always want to hang on to that youngest one as long as we can!

I'm not helping my mom with this whole time goes by so quickly. I'm bouncing around going "I'm a senior! I'm a senior!".
It finally truly clicked on my day off last week:rolleyes:

I took my DD to College and left her there Saturday. Sunday was hard but Monday is better. I am blessed with good kids and a good family. Time goes too fast. I like the phrase the days are long but the years fly by. My son is 17 on Oct 1st. He is a junior this year and then he will be off to school too. I can't even imagine what that will be like. This to shall pass. This is the first year I won't have a picture of my daaughter on her first day of school in 16 years. I won't even see what she picks out to wear. That may be a good thing. The thing that struck me the hardest when we were leaving the dorm was when it was time for her and her brother to say goodbye, they looked like they were going to cry. I guess we did a good job there. I know they are close and they have always gotten along well. They have nice personalities that mesh. I just wasn't prepared.

I don't even want to think about two years from now when DD leaves for college. I'll be a basket case.

You won't be a basket case. You just have to get ready. I thought I would be much worse. It was hard but I did okay. If you do your job part of the job is the launch. You have to let go so they can become the woman they are going to be. That is what is so wonderful to watch. In this world today you must be a strong woman that is what you want and that is what she wants so when she gets strong on you just remember, well she has to test where she is safe, and she will test you believe me. Senior year is great. There are so many wonderful things that happen. Have a great school year. DS starts next week. His Junior year too. This is the hard one. God help me to keep him focused. Eyes on the Prize. God I LOVE my job!

Our babies grow up no matter what we do. {{{HUGS}}} sweetie, I know exactly how you feel :)

Very insightful. I hope I can remember all this in 12 years!!!:D
