\
Had a great trip, pics coming. I hope we get something good too!

Great video and sounds like a great trip! Isn't the American Girl doll store great? Can't wait to hear your experiences there, and I can't wait to have a daughter of my own, just so I can take her!! lol. Glad Tim enjoyed the game, got his hepatitis shot on his way out..JK its all in good fun, A-Rod hitting his 600th is quite an accomplishment and i'm so happy Tim got to see it! Actually, according to my twitter there were 2 other DIS-ers at that game, so thats funny!
The store was great, very overwhelming though. Yes, they were THRILLED! That is funny other Disers were there too.

Glad you had a wonderful time in NJ & NY.
Can't wait for your next update!
We did, coming tonight!

Glad your trip went well. That is wicked cool that the guys were at the game where A-Rod hit is 600th homerun! I bet they were so excited and can't wait to see pictures.

The video from the podcast was great...Lauren is just too cute you can def. see her personality on it. I laughed when Tim asked if he could take a keg on board!

Looking forward to pictures of NJ/NYC and more about your trip!
Trip went great. They are still on cloud nine about being there for the 600th.Glad you enjoyed the video, it was fun to do

Finally all caught up. Your trip looked amazing, really enjoying your review! Also anxious to see pictures for your latest vaca.
Coming up next!

Well Lauren is exactly how she is in pics :rotfl:. Always posing. So cute how she is flipping her hair in the video. She is def photogenic :rotfl2:

How cool u seen people from the show at Carlos Bakery. It seems like they are always in the store on the show. That would have been real awesome to see Buddy.

I am sure Tim was excited about the game. Mr. Super Yankees Fan. Glad u guys had a good time. Cant wait for the new update
I'm glad Lauren's personality came through in the video. At the end she actually blew the camera a kiss but it got cut off during Tim's editing. Carlo's bakery was AWESOME!

I'm so glad that your family had a wonderful vacation with Diane and her family! Can't wait to see pictures. I went to New Jersey once when I was in the 7th grade (my cousin was graduating from the Coast Guard) but we didn't get to do any of those fun things. It sounds like you had the greatest time!

Good luck getting everything ready for your classroom/for school to start! My husband is a youth minister and our "kids" go back on Wednesday! At least your family has a few more weeks. :thumbsup2

The podcast video is great! Your family looks like so much fun. I love that Lauren was posing on camera. Congrats on being chosen!
Yes, it was a great vacation. Thanks, can't get into the classroom yet, they are waxing the floors in my hall, hoping soon so I can get it done. My first day is on the 20th
Sounds like a great trip! We just love Cape May. It's beautiful there.
Cape May is gorgeous, would love to vacation or better yet... live there : )

As a New Jersian myself, I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed your trip to NJ! There are so many wonderful thing to do and see here. Cape May is beautiful in the summer and Atlantic City is just a fun town for all! Looking forward to seeing pictures.... :)

Glad you enjoyed it, I sure hope so, would be wonderful!

So glad you all had a wonderful trip to Jersey!!! It really is a fun area to live!!! The shore points are my favorite... Love laying on the beach all day and hitting the boardwalk at night! :goodvibes
I bet, we kept saying "you guys live by paradise"
Wow, you guys crammed a lot of amazing things into you visit to New Jersey! I'm glad you had such a great time.

Terri
Yes, it was fun, pics coming up.

Hi Everyone! We are out in New Jersey right now staying with Diane and family. We are having a great time and will be here through Thursday. We went to the beach last night, it is SO beautiful, I don't know what I pictured New Jersey to be like, but it is just gorgeous, the kids jumped right into the waves. Today we went to Atlantic City. We lost 20 bucks in the slot machines, had fun walking the boardwalk and the shops, saw the beach, ate at Rainforest Cafe and shopped at the Disney Store (I spoiled Lauren and got her a Princess Tiana dress (hey, it was on sale and I couldn't resist).
Tomorrow we are heading to Carlo's Bakery (from Cake Boss) early in the morning, I have some crumbcakes pre ordered, can't wait! Then we head into New York City for the Day, I CAN'T WAIT, I have never been!!!!
Well, bye for now guys, I'll do an update after we get back from Jersey, sad it's our last vacation of the summer because that means when we get back I only have 2 weeks until school starts. :scared1:
-Lesley

I hope you enjoyed NJ. Sounds like you did :goodvibes

A lady at work had a birthday cake from Carlos Bakery a couple months ago. IT was so good.

That is so cool you got to go there. :goodvibes

Sounds like you had a great trip up here

So cool you got to meet Mary from Cake Boss :thumbsup2

Great Video and great questions. Tim is funny as usual :rotfl:

Hi Lesley,:wave2:
Happy to hear y'all had a wonderful trip! I've wanted to visit Cape May since moving to the east coast. That's where my sis and her family frequent, and it sounds like heaven!
Congrats to Lauren on her American Girl doll...great store. My nieces have the dolls, and they are very pretty. AND what a thrill for the boys seeing A-Rod!
Awesome podcast! Congrats on being chosen - you all did GREAT! Tim and his keg :rotfl: LOL, and your kids are ADORABLE! I do believe they are ready for a Disney Channel appearance (perfect hair flip, Lauren, you nailed it), and Lesley, you can tell Stacey you'll take her place on the in-room Disney channel! :thumbsup2

So, as I said, we just returned from a wonderful trip to New Jersey/New York. We stayed with Diane and her family and just had a wonderful time. They were terrific hosts and we got to do and see so much. Here are some pics from our trip.
(I’m posting a new Dis update from our June Disney trip tonight, so stay tuned for that later tonight):
Our first full day there we headed to Atlantic City, this is one of my favorite pics from the trip:
IMG_8182800x600.jpg

It was a beautiful day, clear skies and no humidity. We enjoyed some casino time and lost money in the slots:
IMG_8176800x600.jpg

Had fun people watching on the boardwalk:
IMG_8189800x600.jpg

IMG_8180800x600.jpg

We shopped around:
IMG_8191800x600.jpg

IMG_8167800x600.jpg

The kids enjoyed seeing the beach:
IMG_8178800x600.jpg

We had lunch at the Rainforest Café (a first for the kids, they loved it)
IMG_8172800x600.jpg

They had a Disney Store there and they had the really pretty Princess Tiana dresses on sale for 34 bucks, I couldn’t resist, so Lauren got one, she LOVES it and it looks so cute on her. She has begged for one in Disney the past two trips but they are 89 there, so I was happy with that deal.
The next day was New York City Day. We wanted to hit Carlo’s bakery so we got up early and left their house by 7:00. We got to Carlo’s by 8:15:
IMG_8199800x600.jpg

The line was already two blocks long, people waiting said around 2-3 hours. LUCKILY I had called in an order for some crumbcake the day before so we were able to bypass the line.
It was packed inside there:
IMG_8200800x600.jpg

IMG_8202800x600.jpg

Inside the shop, we got to meet Mary (Buddy’s sister that always gives him a hard time on the show):
laurenandmary.jpg

She was very very sweet and thanked us for watching the show.
Lauren and I went outside and Tim and Luke waited in line.
IMG_8204800x600.jpg

IMG_8206800x600.jpg

We decided to “stalk” the alley and found DANNY!!!
IMG_8207800x600.jpg

Tim emerged from the store with some lobster tails, cupcakes and our crumb cake, we dug in right away : )
IMG_8211800x600.jpg

IMG_8212800x600.jpg

The lobster tails and cupcakes were OUT OF THIS WORLD good. The crumbcake was a little dry, we found out later that heating it up made it taste a lot better. We were on cloud 9 as we left the bakery and we headed to take a train into New York City:
IMG_8216800x600.jpg

We got off by the 9/11 memorial, VERY moving:
IMG_8221800x600.jpg

IMG_8225800x600.jpg

Tim got a snack at a cart:
IMG_8233800x600.jpg

We walked to Battery Park to view the Statue of Liberty:

And Radio City:

What a GREAT day, we were wiped.
Next day was a relaxing day at their house, they had both of their families over for a cookout, we had a great time hanging out and meeting everyone. On the next day (Monday) we hit the Boardwalk for some games and rides:

Everyone won a prize:
IMG_8359800x600.jpg

It was such fun.
That night Diane’s mother had volunteered to babysit the kids and Diane and Bryan took Tim and I out to a wonderful Italian restaurant. Tim and I were blown away because you can bring in your own beer and wine, they do NOT do that in Ohio. Not only was that a bonus but the food was amazing. We had a great evening out just us adults!
The next day was a beach day, I didn’t bring the camera but it was a beautiful day, beautiful beach, we had a great time.
On Tuesday night Bryan took us crabbing, that was SO MUCH FUN!
IMG_8372800x600.jpg

We all participated:
IMG_8375800x600.jpg

IMG_8378800x600.jpg

IMG_8379800x600.jpg

We ended up catching 5:

IMG_8415800x600.jpg

IMG_8428800x600.jpg

IMG_8430800x600.jpg

We had such a great time, Bryan was a wonderful crab guide, he really made it fun. When we got back to their place he cooked em’ up and they were YUMMY!!!
The next day was the guys big day at Yankee Stadium:
IMG_8434800x600.jpg

IMG_8436800x600.jpg

We wished them well (they were SOOOOOOOO excited) and we headed to Cape May for the day (Lauren and myself, Diane and Eric – they are Mets fans : )
We stopped at the Cape May zoo, which I couldn’t believe was free:
IMG_8437800x600.jpg

IMG_8441800x600.jpg

IMG_8442800x600.jpg

I had never been that close to a Lion before. He came out right as we were walking by, starting roaring REALLY loudly:
IMG_8444800x600.jpg

Then he turned around, took a pee and walked back inside. Too funny, but GREAT timing, it was awesome.
Then we headed into the beautiful town of Cape May, just LOVED it here. I would love to vacation there sometime, or if I hit the lottery, buy a place there:
IMG_8449800x600.jpg

We had lunch at the Ugly Mug, GREAT food (their lemonade tasted like lemon sweetarts, so good!)
IMG_8452800x600.jpg

IMG_8453800x600.jpg

The streets and shops were just great:
IMG_8457800x600.jpg

We enjoyed some shopping and some frozen custard:

Then we drove by the beautiful cape cod homes along the shore:

Can I live there please???????????
After that we checked out the lighthouse:
IMG_8472800x600.jpg

And the sunken ship and the Cape May diamonds:
IMG_8475800x600.jpg

Meanwhile the boys were LOVING Yankee Stadium!
yankeegame.jpg

They got to see A-Rod hit his 600th homerun, they were BEYOND thrilled, Tim texted me this picture:
TimYankeegamepic600.jpg

They didn’t get home until around 8:00 (it was a 1:05 game). They were soooooo excited. We had some Jersey pizza, hung out with our friends one last night and said goodbye early on Thursday morning.
We had a WONDERFUL time in New Jersey and New York and thank Diane and Bryan for being such wonderful hosts.
Stay tuned for Day 6 part 2 of our Disney trip update coming TONIGHT!
-Lesley

Looks like you had such a fun time. Those houses on Cape May were awesome. I may have to check that place out.

To see A Rod's 600 homer would have been such a thrill. Ohio seems so plain after seeing all of those great places! :thumbsup2

Glad to see that Lauren picked Elizabeth as her doll. I have Felicity for my own. I have no daughters, but I love dolls. I like the fact that she picked a doll from the past. We reenact that time period which makes it special to me. Great TR! I am enjoying it very much. :happytv:

I enjoyed all the wonderful pictures of the fun times with Diane and family.

Did the Yankees pass out a card or anything to the fans for the 600th homerun? My family was at the Braves game when Aaron hit his 500th and I still have the card they passed out saying I was there to see the homerun.

What a great trip. I watch Cake Boss and would love to taste some of their yummy treats. How cool to get to see Mary and Danny.

Great updates. I think it is so wonderful that you have become such good friends with Diane and her family. It looks like you had a blast with them.

So jealous of you getting to go to Carlo's Bakery. I watch Cake Boss religiously. Also jealous of Tim and Luke seeing A-Rod's 600th homerun. That is a great moment in baseball.

Wow what fun!!! I loved all the pictures, thanks for sharing your adventures with us!!

It's so funny that I was just standing in those same places at Atlantic City just a few weeks ago. BUT I missed the Disney store somehow! Where was it exactly?

Wow!! Looks like you had an AMAZING time with some AMAZING friends! So cool that you met on the disboards......right?! God works in surprising ways some times...but you are all truly blessed!!

I've never been to NY before but it looks really neat...sooo jealous about getting to go to Carlos's bakery...how cool! So is NY one of those places where it's "been there, done that", or would you go again?

Meant to say before...I'm SHOCKED you actually live in OH and have never even HEARD of Kalahari?!?! It's so big here in Michigan. You guys really HAVE to go...but I'd personally save it for some vacation time in the winter months...a great indoor escape when you're missing the summer weather!!

Fantastic photos one and all! Looks like you made some great memories! :grouphug:

Next time I'm up that way, I will definitely try to make it to Carlo's...and thanks to your tip I know to call ahead. :thumbsup2 I've never been to the Disney store there, and will add that to my to-do list too!

Looking forward to your June T.R. update!! :3dglasses

We did have a great day. My pictures of the houses at Cape May don't even do them justice. I agree, I'll have to wrack my brain to find cool places to entertain them when they come out here, definitely no Jersey! Yes, I was surprised she didn't pick a doll that looked like her but she was DRAWN to Elizabeth.

I enjoyed all the wonderful pictures of the fun times with Diane and family.

Glad you enjoyed them. No, they didn't. They released a special shirt but by the time Tim made it to the stand they were sold out.
What a great trip. I watch Cake Boss and would love to taste some of their yummy treats. How cool to get to see Mary and Danny.
Love that show. It was very cool seeing them, they were so nice.

wonderful pictures from a great sounding trip:cool1:
Happy you enjoyed them!

You're welcome, glad you enjoyed reading about it. The Disney store was outside of the boardwalk area by the Nike store.

Wow!! Looks like you had an AMAZING time with some AMAZING friends! So cool that you met on the disboards......right?! God works in surprising ways some times...but you are all truly blessed!!

I know, blessed indeed. I would go back, but would see different things like taking the ferry over to see the Statue of Liberty and ellis island, would LOVE to see a show on Broadway. Nope, I'll have to google Kalahari : )
Fantastic photos one and all! Looks like you made some great memories! :grouphug:

Happy you enjoyed them. Yes, call your order in ahead, they make you pay ahead too. My update is coming this evening : )

Hello!!!!!! I live in Cape May...I could have joined you on your trip!!!!!:yay::yay::yay:

I'm so happy for you that you had such a wonderful visit with Diane and family; you really got to see and do a lot! :woohoo: Next time you go back, go around Christmas time. The tree in Rockefeller Center and the view from the Empire State Building are breathtaking! :goodvibes

So happy I found your latest trip report! I read one several years ago....you stayed at POFQ, I think. Loved it. As a matter of fact, it was because of you that I bought crocs cleos for the parks....and haven't worn a different shoe there since! Hadn't read one again until now. Can't believe how big your kids have gotten. I have to say how impressed I am that you seem to respond to everyone's comments individually. What a way to respect your readers! But hey....you're from Ohio. We have good manners. LOL
