Tim Tebow

That is a total myth about Denver. The weather isn't bad at all. Chicago (usually) has worse winters. Aside from the Dome, Indianapolis is likely the worse of the two cities.

The weather in Indy is a non-factor because of climate control

Denver is very mild weather wise. Sure when it snows you get a ton but the next day it is in the 40s and everything melts. There are few below freezing stretches and it's rare to drop below zero for any significant amount of time.

Wife is from near Denver. Lots of in-laws live there and the Springs. They disagree

The altitude takes some getting used to but it is each to acclimate. People do it all the time and it will help him at normal levels. That is why elite athletes train at altitude.

Not only does he have to acclimate to altitude, but he has been out of game for over a year. He doesnt have a lot of time.

Denver has a heated field. We do not have many days below zero. The Springs is at a higher elevation so they do have a tendancy to get more snow. The weather will not be a factor.

The best part about all of this is how all these guys such as McGahee saying how Manning is going to take the Broncos to a new level...Guess we know how Tebow's teammates truly feel about his abilities/limitations at QB....

Hopefully Tebow will not get traded to The Pats, I don't know if I could stomach full time Tebowmania, it's bad enough from afar. But supposedly the Broncos like one or both of the Pats backup QBs enough to want to try and flip Tebow for one of them. I can see them doing a sign and trade deal with Brian Hoyer with some draft picks being swapped as well, like a 3rd for a 2nd or a 4th for a 3rd type deal. I really hope that doesn't happen but as we say up here in NE, "In Bill We Trust" so I will have to get over it if Bill thinks it's good for the team, it's good for the team.

I have a feeling though that Miami will trade for Tebow out of pure desperation, the Jaguars don't need him as both Henne and Gabbard have more upside at the QB position so I don't see them trading for him. I can see the Jags signing him if the Donkeys release Tebow. Another team to keep an eye on is Minnesota....

It was reported last week that Jacksonville has already told the Broncos they do not want Tebow.

There has been no mention in Denver media of any interest by the Pats, however, that does not mean that they are not interested.

that is right. They said on 9news last night that the average starting temp of a Broncos game is 60 degrees. We do have some cold ones, but not as many as one would think. Being season ticket holders, there aren't very many games that give us pause to attend.

Where is 'near' Denver?

The foothills? yup - that would be much colder.
The plains? yup - that would be harsher weather

I do live here and disagree strongly with your wife. I work in a school. We cannot send the kids outside if the temperature drops below 25 degrees with the windchill. We have only had 2 "indoor recesses" all winter.

Also, due to the altitude, 40 degrees with the closer sun shining on you is sweatshirt weather. Most of the kids are playing basketball in their shirtsleeves due to being hot.

I have been to every Bronco's home game since 1990.

In those 21 years, the frigid snowy games have been far and few between. And as the previous poster mentioned, the field is heated.

One of the ESPN guys reported that the Broncos were interested in dealing with The Pats and that the Pats would be interested in bringing Tebow in, linking Belichick taking Tebow out to dinner pre-draft a few years ago and of course the McDaniel's tie. ..We shall see how this plays out....should be an interesting next few weeks.

I believe Belichick planned on taking him prior to the entire bronco fiasco....Tim is going to end up on top....!!

I will not be happy if that happens. :headache: What's he going to do for us except keep a bench warm?

I just figured out why manning picked the broncos....colts, then broncos....this guy is obsessed with horses!

It's hard to be mad at Manning. He just wants to win one more time before he's done. How much time does he really have even if he is healthy? Manning, if healthy, will instantly make Denver a better team. They could be legitimate contenders next season.

Tebow, on the other hand, just isn't there yet and may never be there. Right now, he is just a weak quaterback. In a few seasons, he may be great, once his running ability supplements a good passing game. Until then, he is completely one dimensional. Defenses will just tee off on him game after game until, like every other run-first quaterback, he is injured.

Still, I am surprised at Elway. Manning is clearly a win-now player. You're not looking to the future by taking Manning. It just seems a little short sighted for Elway. Of course, he may be convinced Tebow will never win and is using Manning to give Denver a chanceuntil they can get a good, young QB.

I just think Manning is over hyped especially with an injury and he did not pick the best team to go to the Superbowl with quickly. He picked a team with a former QB hero that is willing to insist the offence be handed over to him. Jim Harbaugh would never have done that and I was very suprised to hear that he went and talked with him. It is not the Harbaugh's way to have a prima dona on their team. They are all about the TEAM. We hear it ad nauseum her in Baltimore too. But now I hear that Jim Harbaugh was not the one but the owner or Gm wanted to look at Manning. Manning probably knew that and didn't want to deal with actually having a coach. Truth is the only one who really chooses where the Manning boys play is Archie. Have good friends who live in Mississippi who are old friends with the Mannings. They are good people, just a bit full of "Wanting to win at all costs".

Only time will tell if Manning is the God everyone thinks he is but I just can't keep wondering why Indy would let go of the man who built their franchise if he is as good as all the hoopla around him. Even picking up Andrew Luck would not have been an issue. So what a first round draft pick to learn from the great Manning? Truth is Manning would not have stood for any QB to be behind him and that is why they are getting rid of Tebow. Have no doubt that Manning made sure that was part of the deal. He will not have anyone show him up (not that Tebow has the same talent, clearly he doesn't) but he has something people can't put their finger on. I hope he does well somewhere because that kid didn't deserve all the crap he was given.

I wasn't trying to say manning will suck outdoors. Just that it will be interesting. Maybe he likes playing outdoors and flourishes there for years. I don't count college ball as part of a career, usually careers involve some sort of salary.
Weather is a dynamic Manning had to deal with for less than half of his pro career(assuming some away games inside domes). Now he is dealing with it nearly every game. Something new for him. Also new is the thin air. Maybe he sleeps in one of those high altitude tents to help. Only way to find out is to wait and watch.
Personally as a sports fan I would like to see him succeed, and have some good years there.
I think the most interesting thing will be the Peyton vs Eli debate. Can't wait until those 2 go head to head.

Now how bout Peyton's obsession with horses?

I wouldn't take much stock in what Mcghaee says about Tim Tebow. Two very different kinds of people. Willis loves to talk and most of it about himself, not like Peyton will help HIS game. Good thing they got Peyton because Willis is getting old and they will need to switch to the air instead of a running game if they keep him. We don't miss him a bit in Baltimore.

What about the Peyton vs Eli debate? Does it keep going? They have been in different conferences their whole careers. What makes you think they will go head to head now that Peyton plays for the Broncos? Both these guys are great quarterbacks, but there are tons of great QB's in the NFL.

I hate all of this for Tebow. I do like Peyton, and I do hope he has a few more successful years of playing left in him. I do not want to see him get hurt this year. I do NOT like Elway. I hate how he is handling Tebow. I have no doubt, though, that Tebow will handle this whole deal with class as he has handled everything else. I want to see him succeed in the NFL. I do hope he lands with a great team and has a wonderful season. I cannot imagine him going to Jacksonvilled because of Gabbert. I think he would be good for Miami; he would be back in Florida. I am intrigued by what metalis4ever said........Minnesota. I have not heard them mentioned, but I could see that as a possibility. I also hate the idea of Tebow having to sit out a year or so, but learning under Bill Belichick, behind Tom Brady, could be a great thing, too. This will be a very interesting season. I CANNOT WAIT for it to get started!!!!!!!!

The Colts let him go because he was due a $28M bonus earlier in the month that would have also kicked in the last few years of his contract.

They couldn't pay the money and take the cap hit if there is no assurances that he would be healthy this summer....much less years down the line. It wasn't like they could just have kept him for 1 year....they would have to have him for the next 4 at a cost of over $70M in cap hits.

In a perfect world, he and Luck could have been together for the next couple of seasons, but the finances just wouldnt have worked out.

I wish Manning well....except when he plays Indy.

Exactly! It is also a huge factor that the Colts have the #1 draft pick with Andrew Luck staring at them. If they had the #2 or 3 pick, this probably would have played out very differently.

Frankly, John Elway might be the biggest butthead around but the bottom line is that he was correct about Tebow in that there are some serious deficits in his talent. I love what Tebow did for the Broncos last season in terms of enthusiasm and winning but it was never going to work long-term. Heck, most Bronco fans spent the last half of the season just hoping it would last for one more game, then one more, etc etc. However the two quarterbacks that Denver has left other than Tebow (Brady Quinn and that guy that I can't remember his name that was wowing everybody in pre-season last year with his passing ability) are far better suited to back-up an offense designed around Peyton Manning should the need arise.

I wish Tebow well and hope he succeeds wherever he ends up because he really did make the Bronco season last year infinitely more enjoyable. He seems like a great guy. The whole blow-up last year on whether or not he is "too Christian" was just hilarious. Hey, in Chicago they're debating whether or not Brandon Marshall's history of beating up the women in his life is bad for the Bears. People honestly believe that a player being "Too Christian" is a major flaw?

I can't see any team that has an offense built on a pass game being interested in Tebow. That just isn't his strength. I hadn't heard that New England was even remotely interested.

And God bless and protect Peyton Manning's neck and arm. Maybe I should send him an icy hot gift basket as a welcome gift or something.

I don't believe that Manning would have taken in Andrew Luck and taught him, Archie said as much. Obviously Manning didn't want to play for the Colts as well because there is such a thing as restructuring a contract. It was finally reported this morning that Manning took Denver because they said you can have the Offense. The other two said you need to work with us. Getting back to a superbowl isn't his primary goal. Doing things his way is. I really hope Andrew Luck is as good as everyone says and that Indy does get another franchise QB. Good Luck Indy.

Still I think Broncos handled this terribly and it would be sweet to see them fail. Nothing against Broncos fans, but Elway is a Class one Jerk.

Yet Peyton said he would be fine working with Luck....truth of the matter is, neither of us know and at this point it doesn't matter.

I would say given the tearful press conference he and Irsay had, Manning really did want to finish his career here. It's all he's known for the last decade plus and all things being equal, why would you want to move on this late in your career? He's done a lot for the city on and off the field.

As to the contract, it couldn't be restructred according to most reports here (due to the timing of the bonus / start of league year). He could be released and then sign a new contract with the Colts (or anyone else) but given the Colts draft position / cap situation it didnt really make sense for either party to enter into a new deal. Manning doesn't want to be part of a rebuild and the Colts will hopefully have the "next great QB" in Luck.

So....Manning gets a better situation....the Colts get a potentially great QB in Luck and cap savings....and Tebow get traded, which probably makes him the big loser in this whole saga.
