Tim Tebow

What about the Peyton vs Eli debate? Does it keep going? They have been in different conferences their whole careers. What makes you think they will go head to head now that Peyton plays for the Broncos? Both these guys are great quarterbacks, but there are tons of great QB's in the NFL.
I thought I heard yesterday on nfl network that the broncos will play the giants in 2013.
Now that Eli has proven himself by leading his team to two Super Bowl victories, the debate has already started. I think before Eli won two championships everybody kind of defaulted to Peyton. Yeah I realize there are several great(I wouldnt say tons) quarterbacks, however they are the only two I know of who play at such an elite level; and are brothers.
I love sports and I just can't wait to get the season started. The best part about sports is that nobody knows what will happen. As a fan that is pretty new to football I don't really cheer for any one team. I just love to watch.
I really hope Peyton has a great experience in Denver. It is a great place to play sports, as an enormous hockey fan, I watched Joe Sakic, and his team win championships. The Avalanche own the record for the nhl's longest streak of sold out games at 487! Which takes a pretty loyal fan base.

Yet Peyton said he would be fine working with Luck....truth of the matter is, neither of us know and at this point it doesn't matter.

I would say given the tearful press conference he and Irsay had, Manning really did want to finish his career here. It's all he's known for the last decade plus and all things being equal, why would you want to move on this late in your career? He's done a lot for the city on and off the field.

As to the contract, it couldn't be restructred according to most reports here (due to the timing of the bonus / start of league year). He could be released and then sign a new contract with the Colts (or anyone else) but given the Colts draft position / cap situation it didnt really make sense for either party to enter into a new deal. Manning doesn't want to be part of a rebuild and the Colts will hopefully have the "next great QB" in Luck.

So....Manning gets a better situation....the Colts get a potentially great QB in Luck and cap savings....and Tebow get traded, which probably makes him the big loser in this whole saga.

I don't know - I really don't get the sense that Manning is interested in "developing" a quarterback to take over when he's gone.

He certainly didn't do ANYTHING for either Kerry Collins or Curtis Painter, not letting them take any snaps from center, or running any offense, in practice. And that lack of experience certainly came back to bite Indy in the butt last year.

Manning said last year, after he signed the 5 year contract extension, that it meant that he would "end my career here as a Colt". Well, that was in July. Before the season deconstructed. Before Indy got the #1 draft pick. Before it became painfully obvious that to be competitive at the highest level, Indianapolis would not only have to start over and rebuild from the ground up, they would have to do that with essentially an entirely new team.

That why they didn't just get rid of Peyton. They also released Pierre Garcon, Jeff Saturday, Dallas Clark. It's clear that they want to use every last dime of the salary cap to build for the future, and not carry any extra baggage.

As for Tebow, don't feel too sorry for him. He now has a chance to head back South, where he's said he wants to be, maybe even back to Florida . . .

It was a good move for Denver, no question. If Peyton Manning is available and you can get him, you take him. It really has nothing to do with Tebow, any more than it had anything to do with any of the other current QB's of teams Manning considered. Manning is a HOF quarterback and if he's healthy and all reports seem to say he is-you can't pass that up.

As for Tebow-he'll be fine. Football is what he does, it isn't who he is. He knows it's a business and that it is a transitory career. He will continue to play as hard as he can, work as hard as he can for whatever team takes him. I'd like to see him do well, because his work ethic and team first attitude is rare these days. It would be nice to see it rewarded.

All this Peyton mania makes me wonder.....why the heck did indi release him???
There have been plenty of quarterbacks drafted high and turn out to be just an average backup.....every heard of the Brady six?
I hope that indi falls hard and then can't get back up....to see how emotional manning was leaving there was hard to watch. To cut him loose after he basically built the franchise, lined the owners pockets year after year and the say, sorry your time here is up and you can't have a bonus that he earned...was low, cheap and very unclassy.

Denver will love having Peyton Manning. He is truly a class act. TN still loves him. He's just a really nice person.

personally I hope Broncos have sucky season..Mannings famous for picking and choosing who they gonna play for right out of the draft...pompous...should be thanking God they have the talent to play Anywhere!

sounds like Jacksonville is back in the hunt for Tebow. The news said that they need Tebow to generate interest and fill seats.

Miami has expressed interest and baby hoodie boy (the pathetic McDaniels who drafted
Tebow has expressed interest)

As a long time Colts fan, I am dissapointed that Manning, Clark, Saturday and Garcon have left. They are great players. I am sick and tired of hearing Manning say "it isn't about the money" when he took a 90+ million salary from Denver. He is nearing the end of his career and has to expect us to want to have him mentor a rookie. Especially after having him out all season last year.

Good luck to Manning and the other players, As much as I liked wearing your 18 jersey for the past 14 years, I will NOT wear it in a Broncos jersey.

I think what you wrote about is only partially true. I think Manning took all the snaps with the 1st unit during the season. Painter, Sorgi and all the other b/u QB's got plenty of practice in the pre-season....just during the regular season didn't get many reps. Although to be honest, no amount of practice would have made Curtis Painter even a bad QB. He may well go down as the worst QB in the history of pro football.

Also, he never played with Kerry Collins, as Collins was only brought in to play when Manning was deemed too injured last August.

LOL J-E-T-S wildcat...wildcat....wildcat....well at least Tebow will fit in with a College style offense that is the Cat...

The Jets overpaid for Tebow - 4th, 6th and 7th round picks in this years draft.

He could fill the void that Brad Smith left when he went to Buffalo, minus the Special Teams play of course.

Glad The Pats didn't pull the trigger on Tebow.

It isn't like Manning had a choice in the matter? Is it? He didn't leave voluntarily. He was released from his contract. The Colts didn't offer him a position to stay? What do you expect the guy to do?

Dallas Clark was also released. :confused3
