I don't like the media attention Tebow gets, how he is the media darling of college football and gets so much attention. I enjoy unbiased sports reports and I can't enjoy that if ESPN is on Tebow watch 24/7. Tebow is a great human being for all that he does, but you can't tell me that their aren't 10-20 other players in college football who do just as much if not more than Tebow for their communities. Why is Tebow so special? He isn't an NFL type QB and experts agree he likely won't play QB in the NFL.
Was I happy Tebow got hurt? of course not, I do wish that he would fail on the field, but I don't wish harm onto the guy. Plus his injury added much more media attention to a Florida team that doesn't need it.
I enjoy all sports, and come from a place (Oakland, CA) that is horrible at everything right now. The Raiders are awful, the Oakland A's have suffered a few bad seasons, The Golden State Warriors have made the playoffs once in my life, and the California Bears were outscored 74-6 in the last two weeks! I have nothing going for me in terms of sports and it will likely stay that way for a long while.
So I watch the SEC, Big 10, Big XII, ACC, Pac 10 etc. to catch good games, root for random teams I enjoy (Iowa and South Florida). But when I turn on college football live and Tebow is the topic of the conversation all the time, you get sick of him, like I have.
So I root against the Gators, at least for another season.
And you want a heartbreaking college Storyline? Look at South Florida QB Matt Grothe. 4 year starter! Came into that program as it was starting up and basically helped create it to be a Top 25 team. He was a mediocre NFL prospect, but a stand up guy who gave a lot to his community. What happens to him? Career ending knee injury in the 2nd game of his Senior and final season. Did anyone care? no because he's not Tebow.
