Tim Tebow.

thanks for posting....that makes sense re the boo'ing, of course the media didn't show that part.

Congrats GATORS! We are rewatching it this morning. I was a ball of nerves last night, so now I can relax and watch! Now we have to play Arkansas this weekend - Homecoming - who is all fired up! We'll be there Danny is there and Dana Carvey is in Gator Growl!!

It looks like Alabama is the cream of the SEC crop. They have looked unbeatable this season. They shut down Jevan Snead who is much more of an NFL quality QB then Tebow. Now Florida has more weapons than Ole Miss but still. LSU was overrated anyways, they needed a few dicey calls to beat a Georgia team that blows.

hopefully the SEC will play itself out of the national championship game again. I personally dispise Tebow and home that somebody takes them out this season. Luckily, with the way Texas, Cincinnati, Boise State and Iowa are playing this year, only 1 loss will take you out of the National Championship.

Luckily a 1-loss Florida team likely won't play for the national championship due to their weak schedule. The only ranked teams they play all year is LSU and South Carolina (who could drop out) plus Alabama in the SEC Championship. V-Tech plays 4 ranked teams this year at least, while Alabama touts 5.

So Tebow's lore will only take him so far this year, and he has to be perfect, because if he isn't, he won't be playing for that glass ball.

wow - why would you despise Tim? issues??
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If anyone watched the game last night, it is being reported that Tim Tebow has a bad concussion with minor bleeding in the brain.
Video can be found here: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=450...goryid=2378529

It is a bad one.

ETA - WOW, see you were the OP, so guess you were happy re Tim getting hit. Point that no sympathies were issued, just a report.

I think that when LSU fans first "met" Tebow, as a freshman, most thought he was cocky and arrogant. But over the last 3 years, we have come to know that he was just that good, and his arrogance was really just confidence. You really can't help but like and admire him. And what a gutsy performance last night! That kid has something special!

*sigh*
I already asked him to tell us why he hates Tim so badly.
He never answered.

:confused3

I think he has some sort of pent up hostility towards him for reasons only he knows.

I do, however, think it's very telling of the type person someone is when they say they despise a person that they don't even know personally.

Especially when the "hated" person is actually known for working for the greater good of humanity rather than sitting behind a computer, spewing hate filled messages on the internet.

*I* despise murderers and rapists.
A 22 year old football player?

Not so much.

:sad2:

I don't like the media attention Tebow gets, how he is the media darling of college football and gets so much attention. I enjoy unbiased sports reports and I can't enjoy that if ESPN is on Tebow watch 24/7. Tebow is a great human being for all that he does, but you can't tell me that their aren't 10-20 other players in college football who do just as much if not more than Tebow for their communities. Why is Tebow so special? He isn't an NFL type QB and experts agree he likely won't play QB in the NFL.

Was I happy Tebow got hurt? of course not, I do wish that he would fail on the field, but I don't wish harm onto the guy. Plus his injury added much more media attention to a Florida team that doesn't need it.

I enjoy all sports, and come from a place (Oakland, CA) that is horrible at everything right now. The Raiders are awful, the Oakland A's have suffered a few bad seasons, The Golden State Warriors have made the playoffs once in my life, and the California Bears were outscored 74-6 in the last two weeks! I have nothing going for me in terms of sports and it will likely stay that way for a long while.

So I watch the SEC, Big 10, Big XII, ACC, Pac 10 etc. to catch good games, root for random teams I enjoy (Iowa and South Florida). But when I turn on college football live and Tebow is the topic of the conversation all the time, you get sick of him, like I have.
So I root against the Gators, at least for another season.

And you want a heartbreaking college Storyline? Look at South Florida QB Matt Grothe. 4 year starter! Came into that program as it was starting up and basically helped create it to be a Top 25 team. He was a mediocre NFL prospect, but a stand up guy who gave a lot to his community. What happens to him? Career ending knee injury in the 2nd game of his Senior and final season. Did anyone care? no because he's not Tebow.

You say that you personally despise Tim Tebow, yet then say he is a great human being. :confused3 Sorry, but that just makes no sense to me.

Maybe you should despise the media who is giving Tebow all the attention and not Tebow himself.

Tebow and Co. kicked our butts last night, but I can't find anything to despise about Tebow the player or the man.

JMHO

I think everyone was tired of the media coverage, but I honestly don't know one LSU fan that wanted Tebow to be hurt, or personally despises him. He's a great guy and a great football player. We respect that :).

Personally, I like Florida. They're my favorite team in the SEC East.

Jane is right about the booing. It was because the fans felt the Florida players were being disrespectful. Just another night in the SEC. No big deal.

I predict Alabama or Florida will be in the National Championship game this year. Florida in particular seems poised to win the remainder of their games if they can get past Arkansas.

Hopefully LSU will put a crimp in Alabama's remaining schedule, but first we need to find our offense, LOL.

Tebow, nor any of us, control the media and what they portray. And yes, I don't think there are other college players who are in his status re humanitarian efforts....please, ESPN and other media outlets LOVE that. They would be reporting it.

so smart, to root against the Gators simply because when you turn on your tv, he is the topic of conversation.

I am sad for Matt...while I spent 5 yrs at UF, I actually graduated from USF. He is no where near Tebow as a person, people just can't get that.

I know Jane posted about this, I am shocked Meyer let this happen. I would hope there was some repremanding there.

I think so as well.
Obviously he started this thread for not so nice reasons. And some issues I think....look out!

Good win last night for FL. I ended up watching. :) That Tebow is something else. He definitely has a faith that is above and beyond the norm--esp. for a 22 yr.old person. I hope he somehow can keep the faith and continue doing great things for the Lord he serves.

I'm surrounded by gator haters here in TN but when it cxomes down to it, I can't think of anyone who despises Tebow.

Given his history, I'll bet you're right.

He hates the SEC (LSU in particular...but hey doesn't everyone :rotfl:).

I can understand this sentiment. I feel the same way about Tiger Woods. I used to love to watch golf and can't stand to now. Even when Tiger isn't even playing, all the commentators have to talk about him. Ugh!!!! It is so infuriating. However, I don't hold that against Tiger. Likewise, it isn't Tebow's fault he is a media darling.

This Tiger living in Gator country is, obviously, bummed about the outcome of last night's game. I did enjoy watching though, but I will admit to cringing a little every time I hear Tiger Stadium referred to Death Valley.

Anyway, congratulations to the Gators and all my Gator neighbors.

Actually you are wrong, it is true the SEC is my least favorite conference but Tennessee, and more specifically Lane Kiffin is my least favorite SEC team. After that comes Clemson for how they reacted against South Carolina a few years back and what their coach did to the RB who had taken custody of his little brother (he cut him). In terms of teams I dislike for their play, Boise State tops my list.

BTW, the only bar on my island that has NCAA Gameplan? LSU Central, banners and logos everywhere. I watch college football there every week. The SEC is well represented by LSU, Florida, Georgia fans and the like. The ACC, Big 10 and Big XII also have strong bases. Me? I am pretty much the only Pac 10 fan on the entire island. I am used to having to argue my points with SEC fans. I admit the SEC and Big XII are the best conferences, but the SEC barely even recognizes our existence which is very annoying.

You do realize that Clemson is not in the SEC, don't you? I couldn't tell by the way you phrased it if you were including them in the SEC.

An LSU bar in the Virgin Islands? Awesome :thumbsup2 I would have never dreamed that!

Yes I know Clemson is in the ACC.

Congrats Gator fans! What a great game! I certainly wish LSU would have come out on top, but it was still a fun game to watch!
I didn't post during the game because I couldn't pull myself away from the TV. Then yesterday after church we headed straight for the stadium to watch our Panthers play. We got a win there so at least one game came out the way we had hoped! :thumbsup2:cheer2:
On the drive home we listened to the Panthers' post game talk. The commentators did say they expect the team to draft a young QB this upcoming draft!!!! I am holding out hopes for Tebow!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2
I was so happy to see him play Saturday night. I am so happy that he is better. :thumbsup2
