Tim Tebow.

I understand the logic of scheduling cup cakes. But to me its a little chicken you know what. I mean to me it totally skews the overall records. It would be like if the Dallas Cowboys scheduled the Arkansas Twisters (old arena league team) on their schedule and other like teams with the logic being, well the NFC East is the toughest conference in the NFL, why would they want to also play teams like the Steelers and Saints? Well because its football and football can be a tough road to hoe.

Same with college IMO. It would also weed out paper tiger teams. SEC teams wouldn't have to schedule other SEC teams not otherwise on the schedule, but at least go for PAC 10 or Big 12 teams (other big conferences.) Plus if they did this, it would truely prove just how superior the SEC is to all the other conferences.

NFL teams would probably schedule the easiest teams possible IF they could. The NFL sets each team's schedule. The colleges get to set their own schedules and of course they're going to schedule the easiest teams they can. The only way to really fix that would be to have the NCAA decide all the schedules for the colleges.

The U isn't afraid of a hard schedule. UF needs to ball up and challenge some real teams.

Tim Tebow won't be another Heisman winner who flops. Not only is he an excellent football player, he is a very good leader, extremely competitive and extremely intelligent. What's wrong? Are you an Ohio State fan who's jealous because Pryor isn't good enough to ever come close to measuring up to Tebow as a man or a football player?

Tebow WILL NOT be an NFL QB, at best he will be a TE or linebacker. I never even brought up Pryor, so not sure why your thinking im jealous. This is why people hate Florida, you gator fans are the worst because you whine like your coach..... I don't like *ichigan, but I do respect them well until R-Rod showed up.....

We'll see next year when he's drafted #1 as a QB.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH:lmao:
The only way that will happen is if the Jags have the #1 pick. McCoy will most likely be the 1st QB selected. If Jags get him the London Jaguars are a much bigger reality.

HAHA you obviously know nothing about football. But I realized that after discussing Michael Vick with you (funny how he has done more for animal rights then any other person?) Even Tebow faithful know Tebow isn't going to be drafted that high. Sam Bradford is a prototypical pocket passer and will likely go #1 with Colt McCoy #2. After that, Jake Locker, if he declares will likely go #3 (you east coasters might not know him, he plays for Washington). After that, Jevan Snead and Tony Pike are likely to go late in the first round from Ole Miss and Cincinatti respectively.

Oh and I didn't make these up, I took it from ESPN's Scout Inc Top 32. Last year they 28 of their top 32 players were selected in the first round, so I think they as experts, know what they are talking about.

Could Tebow go in the first round? sure, but he won't be the first QB taken and I doubt he will be taken as a QB at all. He is a run first QB, and doesn't have the arm strength, which is everything in the NFL.

While I don't know Tim Tebow personally, I have, like all the other UF Alum and Gator fans alike, watched him for quite some time and I can say without a doubt that if he is not drafted in the first (or second round for that matter)- it will not crush him. The fans, maybe. Not him.

Many times over he has said that what is important in life is God, family, academics, football. In that order.

His faith in God leads him to desire GOD's will for his life-- not his own. If God wants Tim to play for the NFL, then he will. And God will use him as a witness to others, just like He has used him so far in his life.

There are many players who live and breathe their next step in life- the NFL-- and whether or not they will go first or second round. Because they have nothing else to hold onto. Tim loves to play football, yes, but it is not his entire life.

I think it comes down to a lot of fans getting to say "Our QB or RB was drafted before your team's was". And while we all, egotistically, love to be number one-- that's not all there is to life.

Tim grasps that reality. He has more wisdom at his young age than many people far older.

If he never takes another snap- he is already much more accomplished in this life than many ever will be.

And the University of Florida has been blessed to count him as one of our own.

#1, I know more about football than you will ever know....notice how the Raiders proved my point about them about two weeks after I made it when their head coach broke the jaw of one of the assistant coaches. I don't see other teams having their head coach pull that kind of stunt nor would any owner but Al Davis have kept the head coach around (or tried to cover it up) after it happened. Michael Vick is only doing what he's been told he has to do to play in the NFL...he's not doing it because he cares or even because he feels guilty. I heard a body language expert analyze him after his interview on 60 minutes. She said that he didn't feel bad about what he did...just about the fact that he lost his status as a decent human being in a lot of people's eyes because of what he did. If you think you know so much more about football than I do, prove it.
#2, Arm strength isn't really EVERYTHING in the NFL anymore. Physical size and strength are extremely important as well. Compare someone like Donovan McNabb or Ben Roethlisberger to someone like Joe Montana or Dan Marino and you'll see how important running ability and physical size have gotten to be.

Care to make a wager on that? Tebow will not go #1 or #1 QB, $1000. If you are so certain, I will put money on it.

So the Raiders have a lose cannon for a head coach? no football player is perfect, you can't judge an entire team by the actions of a few.
Look at Nnamdi Asomugha, great NFL player and even great philanthropist.

For his commitment to community service, Asomugha was named a Home Depot Neighborhood MVP 2007 [15]

Essence Magazine selected Asomugha as one of the “Do Right Men of 2008”, highlighting his success and philanthropic endeavors [16]

Asomugha has been recognized by fellow members of the NFL Players Association who nominated him in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 for the Byron "Whizzer" White Award for Outstanding Community Service.

But I guess because he is an Oakland Raider, he MUST be a horrible person.

What if Tebow was drafted by the Raiders? would you instantly hate him as well? We have 3 former Gators on our team, do you hate them as well? just because they are Raiders now?

I am not saying I know everything about football, I'm saying you don't. You haven't expressed any knowledge other than your own "expert" opinion. I'm sorry I rather trust the experts on ESPN, Fox Sports and SI for my expert opinions.

No, not every Oakland Raider is a terrible person. There are several people who have played for the Raiders that I respect. Asomugha is one of them. I feel sorry for the guys that are decent human beings and get stuck playing (or coaching) for a team run by Al Davis.
Davis is the one who drags the team down, both in character and in how well/poorly they perform every year. I think that once he's gone, I'll have a lot more respect for the team and I know quite a few people who feel that way. I think Tebow is smart enough and a good enough person to let them know that he has no interest in them if they show interest in him (I doubt they will, though...they seem to be giving Jemarcus Russell plenty of chances even though he's a pretty awful QB.)
Considering SI's track record on reporting the draft, especially on their picks for who did well and who did poorly in the draft, I wouldn't consider them the greatest "experts" around. Fox Sports and ESPN seem to be a little better than them, however. In the long run, I guess it doesn't really matter what order Tebow is picked in (although I still say he'll be picked first.) He'll be the most successful QB of the ones picked this year because he has the physical, mental, and character qualities to be successful.

great post!
Yes, this is all so true and is the reason that I admire Tim Tebow so much! He is not only a great player, he is a great person!
I hope that our Panthers will get him! We are struggling with our team and quarterback right now. I have told DH many times that I wish Tim Tebow would come play for us! I would love to have him here! :thumbsup2 He is a great guy!!!!!!

I don't know if there's been one of these recently (I don't want to go read posts- the argument upsets me..:rolleyes1) but I read today in UF's school newspaper that yesterday Tim attended a football meeting with the team although it is not yet determined if he will play next week. He's still undergoing tests. He has not watched the tape from the game as he's not allowed to watch TV. In addition, he obviously has not attended practice.

The article can be found in the Alligator. http://www.alligator.org/articles/2009/09/30/sports/football/090930_anotes.txt
Just wanted to let you all know, for those who care about his health.

:thumbsup2

We'll see next year when he's drafted #1 as a QB.

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Now that was funny....

There was acutally a guy from ESPN (or maybe Fox sports) on the local sports radio show the other day discussing if Tebow would ever take a snap as a QB in the NFL (other than in something like the wildcat). His thoughts were that as of now Tebow wouldn't be in the top 10 QB's taken and most likely would never be a regular QB in the NFL.

yes, they are telling us very little. I think Tim is worse than they are letting on imo.

Wow, I think I sprained something rolling my eyes at this thread...

(sorry, not a sports fan. At least not to this degree, anyway!)

I hope that Mr. Tebow makes a full, speedy recovery tho!

That would be the easiest $1000 you've ever made.

Think you could get her to bet you that the sun won't rise tomorrow too?

No way or how he's the #1 Qb taken, much less the #1 pick. You could expand that bet to being taken in round 1 and would likely still have very little chance of losing.

There's no chance in hell that he won't be taken in Round 1 (unless his injury is way more serious than they're letting on.) Since I don't believe in breaking the law, I don't bet on sports but that would be one bet that would definitely tempt me.
If the Bucs hadn't already said that Josh Freeman is their quarterback of the future, I'm sure they'd take Tebow #1 and unfortunately, they're likely to finish with the worst record this year. Even the Lions have already won a game, but Leftwich is awful.
