Tiffany Town Car, 20% gratuity mandatory

If you are using a 'towncar', and not a limo, you will not have the 20% gratuity added automatically. According to TT's site, they list the price and then say that the tip is not included. It is only a limo reservation that will get you that tip added automatically. And a stretch limo at that!!

Gotcha!

Thanks.

Sorry I can't answer your question but I would love to know what your service is like when you come back.

Absolutely.

I've ranted and raved about this in prior threads. Tiffany, we used last year, and service wise, they were good. Friendly driver, on time, etc. One service issue I had was, the driver didn't have a sign with my name on it, so we didn't know who are driver was. We had to ask different people standing there. I plan to send an email to Tiffany a couple days before I leave asking them to have a sign with my name on it to avoid giong through that again.

The one issue I have ALWAYS had with Tiffany is their rude customer service on the phone. I cancelled my initial reservation with them because of this. The owner then emailed me, apologized and offered me a great deal to give them another try, so I said fine.

Thanks. We haven't had any problems with them on our two trips but all the talk on here lately has us wondering if we should book with someone else.

>>> the driver didn't have a sign with my name ...

Let's start a fad!

To avoid problems with gypsy drivers you need to not give your name and the company name and let the driver say yes or no. Instead ask the driver to give the party's name and his company's name and you say yes or no.

In addition it will dawn on drivers that having a name sign would be a good idea.

My thing is, what good would it do for a driver to pick you up if you've pre-paid with the company he's pretending to be with? Obviously, I wouldn't pay him again.

I have had situations where the driver wasn't there, at the bottom of the escalator. But it wasn't with TT. I have always had a good experience with them. I have had less than cheery experiences with the office staff though. I did have one driver who was not very chatty...downright non-talkative. But for the return he was very outgoing. I guess everyone can have an off day. But, I have had a situation where my dh had to go in search of the driver. We walked, back and forth, looking at the signs. We were nowhere to be found. Finally after a bit, my dh went outside, and there was our driver, having a smoke. Now, our flight was right on time, no delays, not early. I'm glad I had the forsight to go and get the bags while he went in search.
Then for our return to the airport, dh had to once again, go in search. We were at BW and he driver was parked way down by the bus stop. We had gotten out there about 5 mins early, but when 10-15 mins went by, again dh went off to find the car. Other cars were parked waiting at the front door.

But, as for those drivers that don't hold up signs...they drive me nuts. I went to the Dolphin last Dec...so no DME for me. When the time came to be picked up to return to the airport, I sat there, out front waiting. Car after car came and passed by me...they all had name signs. Finally, a towncar drove up and asked if I was ready. Ah, and who might you be? I wondered. I asked him who he was there to pick up. He told me 'You!'....ah, no, not getting in a car with you until you tell me, by name, who you are looking for. When I asked again, he said I had arrived at the Dolphin with my friend and the other girl had gone to BWV first. And after he picked me up he was going to BW to pick her up. And then he gave me my name!! Told him a girl can't be too careful in this day and age. But, it didn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy, that's for sure.

Is it just me, or is having a sign with the person's name more common sense than anything else? Forget policy.

Absolutely common sense!! Sure would make everyone feel better. I think for the most part, most drivers do have the signs. I think I just got one that thought he was being cute and showing how he remembered me. I wasn't impressed.

The rest of the post I started to quote appears to be bordering on personal attack. Edd's own business, how he operates it, how much time he devotes to it, etc., is HIS concern - not ours.
With any luck there are no taxi drivers reading this thread, thank goodness - since that never struck me as a job/career of which one would be "accused".

I'm indeed attacking since he does not quit accusing me of being someone else, and to top it he accuses that person of being a gypsy cab driver. No one came and said anything to him when he was being personal. So, he not only can get away with advertising his website here but also gets away with false online public accusations.

All I said above is true though, no accusations, just facts... And like I said, I'm indeed replying in the same level he is and I agree personal stuff shouldn't be posted in this boards... And now being VERY childish, He started it... :rotfl2:

Hpguy

Let me suggest something to you. If you are not the person I think you are and you know me so well, as you have indicated in previous posts, why don't you come up to me, in the bullpen, and introduce yourself as HPguy. That way I can apoligize to you personally for calling or inferring to you as that driver/owner and maybe we can go away with a better understanding of each other. I would also mention this meeting on the boards and would promise to keep your identity as secret as you want me to.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

You must really think I'm stupid... Your reputation among many drivers at the Bullpen is not that great Edd. I've heard you came up to another company's owner and started a fight/discussion over "discussion board" issues, why would I come and try to have peace with you when you are the one who should, without meeting me, apologize for your mistake. I have nothing to prove to you, all I will say is that you can be certain I'm no cab driver!

A few things here people...
First of all hpguy...the moderators are fully aware of what Edd does for a living.
Secondly...any personal 'issues' hpguy and Edd have would be best served in a PM format. Please take it there.
If I do not see this thread heading back on track, it will be closed. There will be no toleration of personal conflicts here.

I believe the OP has been asked, by me, repeatedly if he is hiring a towncar or a limo. Everyone here will agree, at least I think they do, that limos are charged with the mandatory gratuity. But not a towncar. If someone contracts with a company that is adding a 20% gratuity automatically to their towncar services, then there's an issue.
There is a difference between a Lincoln Towncar and a stretch limo. I believe that sometimes people get them confused, or use the terms interchangebly.

First of all I must apologize to you and the members here for my personal attack on Edd. I, as I said above, did not start it. All I want is offer my point of view as I did for the gratuity issue without him attacking me with the belief I'm someone else all the time.

I also would like to understand why, if you all know what he does for a living, you allow him to once in a while post his website when others can't? Isn't it this a BIG no no??? Haven't other members been banned for doing just that? Why can he attack others and advertise his site here without repercusions? I understand he provides information to all of you and that's good, but his opinions on transportation are not always right and we all should be allowed to voice our opinions without him attacking us!

Again, I apologize for the personal attacks... I just want to be left alone, mostlt by Edd!

You really should PM a moderator if you don't think you being treated fairly.

Ed provides a lot of information regarding MCO and DME. He suggests several limo companies when posters ask for suggestions. He doesn't hide his occupation but he doesn't troll for business.

He indicated your company isn't on the list of companies permitted to pick up at MCO. Either this is a case of mistaken identity or you're being deceptive. This list of permitted companies is posted on the airport website.

Lewisc,

I understand he is open to say who he is, and everyone knows what he does for a living. He also suggests other companies, even one he dislikes the owner... But that doesn't give him the right to advertise his website (taxi-mco) as he did in many occasions (in my book this IS trolling for business). His know-how is of course very welcome and his suggestions most of the times are correct and informative.

I too own a transportation company and no, I"m not being deceptive. I'm not the so called taxi driver whom doesn't have a airport permit... I own several cars and they are all permited.

Is your company on this list
http://www.orlandoairports.net/ops/vfh.htm ? Your company has a name and phone number. Simple question.

Many of us agree with the section of your post I bolded. The moderators and webmaster decide how much latitude Ed, or any other company, has. I suspect posters who provide information may be given more latitude then companies that do nothing more then troll for business.

PM YOUR CONCERN TO A MODERATOR.

If someone has an issue with anything that anyone, and I do mean anyone, posts here, please feel free to contact a moderator. If, and when, I see someone 'advertising' or talking about their particular business, the post gets deleted. So...any problems? Contact us.
Now....get it back on track people.

Yes, my company is listed there... ;)

The ammount of latitude he is given shouldn't go beyond him recommending "other" services, not his own, which by the way he indirectly does not only when he provides his website address, but when he mentions for instance Berkley Edwards (a fine driver BTW) whom is listed in his website... If someone like him is carefull and intelligent enough, they can get away with trolling without people noticing...
