Tiered FP+ for DHS

Yep, this sounds pretty consistent with other posters who tour the way you do. Thanks for sharing it! :)

You are welcome. In the interest of disclosure, we actually did FP- Star Tours in October- so technically we have FP something other than TSM or RNRC at DHS. This was after MDE wouldn't let me change our FP+ time for it and told me no other times were available for it all day and we were stuck in line for Sophia and didn't think we would make it (must be busy if there were no other FP+ available all day huh. ;)) . I trotted myself over to the ride with everyone's back up KTTW cards and got FPs that kicked in 45 minutes later. Not that we needed it, since when I got there to get the FPs the standby line was only 10 minutes - but hey- I was already there so might as well pull the FPs. When we went back at our FP time the standby line was still only 10 minutes (really it was 5).

Wish I could've bought stock in "they'll tier the 3 major DHS attractions next."

But wait, they're just in testing. Or they might still change it. Or (insert defense here)....

Next up--AK tiering! I can see it now:

Option A (Choose one)
Expedition Everest
Kilamanjaro Safaris
DINOSAUR
Kali River Rapids

Option B (Choose two)
It's Tough To Be A Bug
Festival Of The Lion King
Flights of Wonder
Finding Nemo The Musical
Primeval Whirl
Jammin' Jungle Parade

Based on the normal attendance at DAK, and the capacity of those rides, if they did that you would probably wouldn't need a FP for any of those attractions at all but the busiest times of the year, and maybe not even then.

As it is, we can pretty easily do the Safari, EE, and Dinosaur either first thing in the morning, or after the parade with little or no waiting. We generally avoid KRR unless we are on our way out of the park because I don't like getting that wet.

Actually, I'd take this and more likely tier it like this:

Option A (Choose one)
Expedition Everest
Kilamanjaro Safaris
Festival Of The Lion King
Finding Nemo The Musical

Option B (Choose two)
DINOSAUR
It's Tough To Be A Bug
Flights of Wonder
Kali River Rapids
Primeval Whirl
Jammin' Jungle Parade

They need high capacity options in the higher tier because there's just not enough ride capacity at EE/KS/Dino/Kali to spread out the FPs the way they are going to want them spread out. Much like why we're seeing Illuminations and F! and BaTB in the Epcot/DHS tiering

FP+...
"The better way to ration!"

Why be bothered with troublesome riding all day?
Just get FP+ and stop and smell the roses.

(Roses on sale now for only $8.95, each.)

:flower3:

Choices were tiered in all parks when testing started. Then all the tiers were now removed. Since they are adding them back I would take that as a sign that capacity has been confirmed to be inadequate to roll this out untiered. I think the tiers are here to stay.

Right. Untiered was the test.

Some good examples of "spin" going on already in this thread.... ;)

I'm guessing among the tier 1 rides will be the three mountains. Peter Pan.

Could be. I just feel like they have more rides there and everyone's wants are so different...for some people with little kids Peter Pan and ETWB will the must-dos, but they aren't necessarily the same folks who are riding the mountains let's say.

I'm sure I am totally kidding myself that it won't end up tiered. Let's hope.

I'm really not worried- those of us that love WDW and have learned the ropes of the current systems may need to adjust to best use the new system- but we all will. Change is not always good- but it is not always bad either.

I love going to WDW and that is not going to change

This llama is sorta spinning. ;)

If I book today, can I still select my own FP+ from all rides do you think? Going new years eve to HS?

I was joking-using hyperbole to make a point.

Then again, if you've bet along the way on Disney doing this in the most painful, least user-friendly way possible, you haven't been wrong too often. So who knows?

I "think" I'll be able to make our FP+ selections this Saturday, so I may slip under the wire on this one. Saturday will be 60 days out for us.

But, I'm not sure if my DD-7 would do RRC anyway and my DW and I just did single rider last time, so either way, we may be ok.

Yesterday, I booked my 3 FP+ for a DHS visit in January and I had no tiers to choose from. I didn't know that the tiers were coming so soon.

But I'd select them as soon as possible if I were you, because once the tier goes into effect, you can't select them freely anymore.

Thanks, I hope so

Surprised and not happy with them going back to the tiers, though I know exactly why they must because they don't HAVE ENOUGH HEADLINER RIDES to accommodate number of guests.

It was obvious to many that three of the parks don't have enough to do. Disney's decision to force people towards 'under-utilized' ride capacity comes at a great time for the firm in town that is actually building headliner attractions.
