The 50's Prime Time Cafe was the first table service restaurant my mom and I ever ate at on Disney property back in 2000. Since then it has been a Hollywood Studios favorite between the pair of us for many reasons- one of which is probably sentimental. She really gets a kick out of the atmosphere, which dates back to our original meal there when "Cousin Dumbo" spilled his milkshake all over her.
From the get-go I knew Uncle Tim was going to be trouble. I admit I was really tired so I leaned my elbow on the table (before the food arrived!), but I thought I caught myself before he saw it. That little fiasco led to me being sent to wash my hands all because I couldn't remember the color of the soap. Green? Pink? Blue? It all blends in to me. I must have looked like I was nodding off later because he came by to tell me not to fall asleep while our neighbor "cousins" warned me he was probably going to be sent to the corner. Luckily, I was already sitting in the corner and someone else was sent to time out!
But I digress from the point of this post. On to the good stuff!
After learning from the fabulous DIS boards that a shake could be ordered as a drink here, I was quick to jump on the PB and J bandwagon. I am a peanut butter fanatic so I was ecstatic about trying this. Once again, Disney did not let me down! I couldn't taste much in the way of jelly, but the peanut butter flavor was rich and creamy and downright delectable. The portion was also humongous. The glass is full, but there is still enough for another glass in the container behind it. Definitely a great value!
I ordered the pot roast, which is my favorite entree from this restaurant. I think I had forgotten to take a picture before I destroyed the presentation of it, but I did manage to snap one before I took a bite. The roast is extremely tender while the vegetables are very crisp. The bed of mashed potatoes is creamy and when all three elements of the dish combine it is a match made in Pot Roast Heaven.
My mom is an avid meatloaf fan, but she actually sent this back. I'm not sure what was wrong with it besides that it tasted "funky" to her. Maybe it was bad or maybe the spices were just overwhelming, but sending back her food is a very rare occurrence. I've never had it before so I'm not sure what it tastes like. I guess this one is just going to remain a mystery to me.

But she ordered the pot roast as a replacement which seemed to make her happy.
For dessert she ordered the brownie sundae with all the candy and popcorn fixins. She ate it in complete silence, which usually means she loves it.
I love Smores so I knew I was going to try them before I even walked into the restaurant. The marshmallows were toasted perfectly, but I was disappointed by the drizzle of chocolate syrup over them. I guess I'm accustomed to a bar of chocolate being wedged and melted between the graham cracker and the fluffy goodness, but the thinness of the syrup wasn't very substantial.
Just when I thought I was going to make my escape without any more of Uncle Tim's antics, he brought me this little gem. The entire section sang Happy Birthday to me, which was so very nice (thank you again if any of you happen to be reading this.)

I was too full to eat the cupcake, but I did taste it two days later; it was still very moist. I love whipped cream icing so I wish I could have eaten it, but I didn't have the chance.
Overall, it was a fun experience like it always is. I'm a very quiet person so I'm pretty certain my cheeks burned a nice shade of scarlet a couple of times, but it was all in good fun. Even though there were a few hiccups I'm sure we will be eating there again sometime in the future.
