I'll take more pics later. And how ya'll doing with your shirts?

PixieDust looks like you have been very busy! You do such a great job. I love the holloween one, it does look like candy corn. :cutie:

PixieDust, how did you do the holloween one? Do you do the spiral like your other ones or something different? I kinda looks like a sunburst.

Those are SO cute! Thanks for sharing so many pictures. I really like the brown one on your tag pictures. Do you have anymore pictures of that one? Is it just one color brown on it? Thanks again for sharing :lovestruc

so very inspiring! I remember buying a kit over a year ago - and never did anything with it!!

So now you have all this practice - have you relooked at your first post? Are you still doing it the same way? or have you tweaked it at all? I LOVE  how you have the spirals!

You said you got the MM template off of the dis - how does that work? (yes, I'm techno challenged!!)

Hey! Yes very busy indeed! I know right, candy corn mmmmmmm :3dglasses

It was the same, the spiral is the same, but since it was black and light colors I didn't wanted the black to spread out so much I wanted just a touch of black and it tourned out looking like that but I liked it, i just used the black like in between the other colors but in the middle of the folds.

Thank you! Yes is only one color of brown, my DD (again :rolleyes1 ) asked for a brown and pink, I do have some more pics of that one. It does look like 2 different tones of black, i guess is the combination with the pink.

Here is the link to more pics...

Oh you should try it. You can practice with an old t shirt (100% cotton) or a piece of cloth.

I do the same spriral, I don't know, just love the spiral better. I do play with the amount of dye on some because some people like less dye and more white and viceversa.
I did copied from somewhere here, however when my computer crashed I lost some of the files that I didn't backed up, thank god my Hubby had cut me a template with one of his tools on some kind of wood. Let me see if I can find it again.

The spiral is just time consuming because you have to fold the shirt really good to get a cool result. I love the way they look.

Here is the hobby lobby cupon, ya'll can also use it at Michael's. Is good until Saturday.

Wait, you fold the shirt and spiral? How do you fold the shirt? Do you keep the front and back of the shirt together?

Today is my first attempt ever at tie dying. I did the black Mickey head and Jaquard basic kit. I used an old shirt of mine as a trial. I have two for my boys soaking in the ash water. I couldn't wait til tomorrow for the first try. Plus I figured that I could see how it turns out before I dye the rest. My husband saw the pics on here and is going out to get a few shirts for me to make him!!

No, I meant when you do the spiral it folds together, that's what i meant. Just like I did on the pics on the first page.

The Jaquard kit is good, you'll like the results, just follow the directions and it would be fine. I like using black too, it can get messy, but I like it.

Oh that's great that you DH like them, not all guys like tie dye. My hubby has no choice but to wear it when we go to Disney. I made his and my DS with more blues and reds for our last trip and they left them out at the campsite, needless to say whay happened when it rained :scared1::mad:

Good luck and make sure your shirts are 100% cotton, and not too thin, i don't like the shirts from Michaels because of that, they're thin and the colors would not look as bright. Get Fruit of the loom, hanes, or the organic cotton (they are a couple dollars more) and take your time, let them sit in the plastic bag for the time your directions tell you, I know is hard to wait.

:thumbsup2Pixiedust, you're so creative! All your shirts are just gorgeous. And I had just printed out that same coupon about an hour ago.

Thank you! I love the pink one too, (it was a request) I tried it and it turned out pretty cool. Give it a try, I bet you can do it. :yay:

Can I use an type of shirt ir do I have to use the tshirts they sell at like Michaels?? I bought some shirts they other @ Salvation army, bleached them and would like to try them first if I mess up--on is Childrens Place, mine is from Bass and I forget where the other ones are from.

They shirts have to be 100% cotton. I personally don't like the shirts from Michael's they are 100% cotton but they're thin and the colors don't look as bright. I like fruit of the loom, hanes, faden glory, old navy plain whites, as long as they feel thick and 100% cotton. You can tried on a old cotton shirt first.

I have a tye dye I bought YEARS ago - I love that shirt - and its the spiral and the colors - I've attempted over the years to try spirals, but never quite got the "hang" of it - I truly appreciate you posting the simple beginning steps!

Also - do you soak your shirts in vinegar water to "set the colors"? That or salt water is supposed to help???

ITA with your assesment of shirts - if you are lucky Target sometimes has good quality cotton shirts in the women's section - I bought a bunch of them last year - I had hoped I could do tye dye for my dil wedding - night before for her bridal party - but LIfe happened - I still have the shirt and the dyes... and a trip planned... so maybe... just maybe!

Thanks for such an inspirational thread!! I liked the bling - dh just rolled his eyes!! But I think it will add something!! Do you have a bedazzler, or did you just buy the individual glue on rhinestones? DD probably will roll her eyes tho!! LOL

Not rolling my eyes ;)

The stones are the ones you iron on, I got a circle that has a bunch with different colors and sizes, you just iron them on.

I will check target again, need some women sizes, thanks.

I soak them in Soda Ash, is a chemical use in pools, something to do with the PH, also called sodium carbonate. You can also find it in wal mart or home depot in the swimming pool area.

You mix one cup of soda ash per galon of water, I use one of those paint sticks from home depot to stir the mix, make sure all the ash is well mix, and then soak the fabric.
