Arts and Crafts **Tie Dye Mickey ears shirts directions**NEW NEW PICS LAST PAGE**

We made some today:scared1: They did not look like the one that you guys make!! The Mickey head just didn't come out that defined. But the shape is there..Could I use a bleach pen to trace a more defined head? And should I do this before or after washing it?
Thanks!
Kerri

Hey Kerri- I would go ahead and wash them, bc sometimes you don't realize how much dye is left in the fabric! PixieDust uses bleach pens with her shirts, and they always come out looking great!

Thanks! I will try the bleach pens, otherwise they look like blobs!
I will wash them first..we made about 6 t-shirts. Do you wash them all separately? Or can they all go in together? The directions are not very clear. They also advise to wash in hot water..which I thought was strange...

Yes, I agree!

I rinse mine in the sink first until the water runs a bit clear, then I put them in the washing machine with warm water if all the shirts are the same color of course. I wait until the shirts are dry to do the outline.

Hey Stormer.. you will actually be working from both sides of the shirt when banding.. make your MM on the front (and one on the back if you want!) then you will band down until you see the seam that is between the front and back. Then you will pick up the middle of the back of the shirt, and band in towards the other half. Does that make sense? If it doesnt let me know and I will take some pictures for you :)

I am not sure if I can picture what you mean. I'll give it a try and see what happens! If you have some pictures handy, I would love to see them, but don't go through any trouble.

Actually the more I reread your answer, the more I think I understand!

I have a slightly different method- I prefill my washer to a large setting with cold water, and after rinsing really good I throw the shirts in one at a time. I actually throw all of my colors in together! haha! I haven't had a problem with them bleeding on each other YET- and I think it is bc I rinse them so well before putting them in. I also use a detergent I bought from Dharma Trading when I wash, so that may help as well. Everyone has slightly different methods that work for them, you just have to find the one that works best for you! :thumbsup2

:laundy: and I live in a really crazy neighborhood where we don't have a fenced off backyard (it's like- everyone share backyard areas!), so line drying is not an option for me- so I tumble on delicate for 10 min, then hang in the spare bathroom!

I have about 15 shirts to rinse tomorrow around noon- so I will take pictures of what they look like still banded for you then- I would take a photo of them in the bag- but it looks alittle confusing! haha! I don't mind doing this for you at all! It's all about good karma and helping each other out!! :goodvibes

OK, here we go- I went ahead and banded one up so you could see (I have to do this one for DBF tomorrow anyway!)

The left side is the back of the shirt (see the tag?)- you will notice I have a MM on both sides, but you dont have to do that!

Is this how you did the shirts in the previous posts (a couple pages ago)? Also, what do you do with the remaining shirt at the bottom, do you dye it all in the same color?

Thanks for the picture, Tinker. I am going to make some this afternoon, but I am not sure if I should do the spiral or bull's eye. I am not very talented! When I make plain spirals for my boys, they never look spiral! I'll give it a shot and let you know how I make out. Thanks again!

Give it a try on both stormer. I am working on the bullseye right now.

Yes, most of my designs are bullseyes :) Like this:

You can color it all one color, but I prefer to just squirt the different colors down there to make a spaller effect- I think it looks cool :thumbsup2

Anytime sweetie! I think the bullseyes are easier to make, but that is just my opinion!

Loves this

Subbing... hopefully I can find the time to make some before our trip.
