Arts and Crafts **Tie Dye Mickey ears shirts directions**NEW NEW PICS LAST PAGE**

thank you Tinker! She's cute but she is a diva, look at her. She is little, so the shirt is like xs so it was hard to do it, but it was fun.

They should send you a picture of them and their doggies, I bet they look super, so cute.

But the way, her name is Tinkerbell! I love tinkerbell, so I name her after my favorite fairy.

These are awsome! im gonna see if my family will wear these when we go in December!:santa: ill try to find the camo one for me...im not the kind of girl who likes bright colors

You can do whatever colors combination you want, is part of the fun. :yay:

Have you seen the brown ones I did while back? I think I might have posted them on the other thread... anyway- they aren't bright at all! Just a yummy chocolate color.

Hi

I'm going to be using resist to do my MM bc I can sew a lick! But, I'm confused about two steps.

Am I doing resist and then soda ash? Also am I soaking the entire shirt in soda ash if I apply the resist 1st. Also once I do all that how do I dye the shirt? Can I fold it and dye the entire shirt like normal tie dye or do I somehow avoid the resist area?

Thanks!

This is a question for Kat over on the other thread, lol- she is the resist queen and could answer this better than me! I use resist, but my method may not be the same as what everyone else recommends!

I have no experience with the resist either. I need some advice as well. Thanks Tink.

ok ladies...these look fun...what do you use to die your shirts? Do you think it would be possible to do Minnie?? I need all the little tips I can get from you pros on this one!

Hi,

I am working on one that it would be minnie, I just added a little bow, polka dot bow like minnie's. I am sure Tinker has done a minnie one as well. I used Jarquard (not sure about the spelling) dye, also tulip in the past, then I started using the dharma fiber reactive dye as well, I love it, the colors are brighter.

My DD wants a brown and pink minnie, so I would add a pink bow for that one. I'll post some pics as soon as they're ready.

:yay:

Where do you purchase these dyes? PLEASE do post the Minnie's and instructions....You are Very talented!! Tinker if you have Minnie's to show I'd love to see them...thanks

After looking over the posts here..what is ash water and resist? So I use both?? where do you get these items???

Soda ash. Is sodium carbonate (spelling?) Resist is something else. I haven't used resist before, I've heard a lot of good and bad things about it, but I will try it.
You don't use it for just tie dye. Resist is like a plastic substance that prevents dye to get into the fiber. You can find it at Michael's, hobby lobby, Joan's etc.

Yeah, I just make my little bows, and sew them on- then I touch the knot in the back with fabric glue so it doesnt come off when ppl wash them!

Be sure you don't confuse sodium carbonate with sodium BIcarbonate- they are two different chemicals. If you go to a pool chemical store (or pool chemicals at WM) look for something called PH plus :)

Hi

I went to Michaels today and they had a huge tie dye section, which of course made decisions more difficult.

I was looking for the more expensive dyes that I've hear you all talk about, but all they had was Tulip products. Is that ok? I also just realized it didn't come with soda ash, is that mandatory? I can always pick it up in the morning..

I just prewashed my shirts and I'll be all set to go this weekend...
