Tie Dye Instructions for Spiral Mickey Shirt

Oooh, love the green, brown and blue one!

Ok, here are two tanks I made for my niece for our trip. The first one was a failed attempt at a glass slipper, so I added some bling to try and streamline the shape. The second one was my attempt at a spiral. The colors are pretty muted, but I just stuck it in all the dye that had spilled (just to soak it up), so that may be part of the reason. Then I just ironed on a Tink transfer.

I still have one more Tulip kit from work, so I may try something else before our trip next month. Maybe Tinker will bring some Dharma dyes home...:rolleyes1:rotfl:

You know I will Jess! hahahahaha!

Where did you get your Tinker iron on darlin? Is it a print off one? I love that it is ADORABLE!! You know how I am with my Tink stuff!

And I think you did a great job, see you were worried for nothing!

Yeah, you can really catch some good deals at times- but I probably wouldnt use them as much if I didn't have access to the warehouse! They are just good quality shirts- low shrinkage :)

I hear ya!

Ooohh--- are your codes still good?? You might have to share with me! I stock up big time on shirts, if I had to make a guess I have at least 75 blanks in my closet! hahahahahaha!

I'm almost positive they're still running that special. PM me if you want the codes. :goodvibes

I really like your red and black shirts! :thumbsup2

I love this one! I've debated something like this, doing a tie dye and then an iron on transfer. Glad to see it works out really nicely! :goodvibes

Hi everbody! I've been working on a couple new styles for my shirts. On the first one I used one of DH's old undershirt just to try, it come out OK, but Im gonna try with resisit next it might be easier and faster, we'll see.

The second one is a small kids shirt also I was just testing and I think it came out good, but it would show better on a darker color, but it was ok for a first time.

One (new style) is the front of the shirt, and the other is the back of the shirt.

TarzanKat..
To your question about resist.... the answer is no, I've never used it, read about it a lot and now i want to check it out.

Heres my latest.....Did it at work on tie dye day at my daycare center so I did'nt get to fuss too much on it but I like it.

I use resist- I am going to be totally honest- I have a love hate relationship with it! I love the results, but MAN it takes a lot of work to get it out of the shirts! I have thrown many a shirt away thanks to resist not coming out! I would suggest looking into Batik if you like that style!

KAT!!!! LOOOOVE IT!!!! Lets do a shirt trade! hahahahahaha! I'll make you one if you make me one!

ETA- you sponge your resist don't you Kat? You are the resist queen!!!!

HA Sure only if you make me a tink! Mine was a dud!
Yup I sponge resist and let me tell you the secret to that resist is to let it sit! sit! sit! I let the resist on this tank sit for 1 week or more and it came off pretty easy, I was in a rush to rinse it as I had 5 toddlers biting my ankles but once I rinse it again it will be good. You have to use HOT water.... So set the colors with synthropol. I've been finding images online then printing them on card stock or photo paper and the cutting the inside out to make a stiffer stencil. Seems to be working okay.

haha! I will do that- remind me when I get back from WDW!

I use cardstock for my stencils to (on tink) but I paint on, maybe I need to try sponging next time..... I may be putting it on too thick. And I do use hot hot water- sometimes I will even boil them! In fact, I am pretty sure I am missing some finger prints from it! ha!

OK now I made this cute shirt for one of my doggies, :rotfl: I actually made the shirt my self and then tie dye it just to see how it would look like, and I loved it. :dog2:
However my model wasn't very happy about me taking pictures of her, I need another model :lmao:

Anyway, here is the shirt.

That looks awesome! I need to try that resist thing one of this days, when I find the time :headache: It looks cool but I bet it can be a mess ah! :scared:

We did our first shirts about a week ago. I got 3 sets of dye at Michaels. They turned out ok and had a great time making and want to make more but are hoping for better results. They looked great before rinsing them but afterward they faded quite a bit and some colors bled after removing the rubberbands as well as contact transfer of colors. Any tips that can help get better results?

I want to order dye form Dharma but I have no idea how much dye I need. :confused3 We did 2-size 3X, 2-size 2X, 4 size L mens shirts, 2-size M boys, and used the leftovers on 2 bath towels and a washcloth. I will probably be doing about the same amount next time. I got a request for a Mickey Head from someone that wants to give as a Christmas gift.

You know, the dharma dyes really go a long way. I think if you ordered your primarys in the small containers you would be ok (what does everyone else think?) MAybe throw an extra color in there just to be safe- like red, since technically fushia is your primary not red. But that is my tip for better results! High quality dyes really do pay off.
