Same shirts.

When do you guys leave?? Is it next week? We've used the Tulip kits before and have been pleased with the results. I did use a coupon at JoAnn. I'll have to look for the Jacquard colors next time. At this time I'm thinking I could try a bleach pen, I have one, to outline the head if I need to. Or Target got more shirts in if I have to start over, I bought the last one in my size the other day. I'll let you know how things turn out.![]()
You did a great job with saturation!! I think with a little bleach your MM heads will be great on the bullseye ones! Here they are.
I just rinsed them outside with the hose.
They are now in the washing machine.
My spirals didn't turn out so bad, but the bull'seye shirts will definetely need to be touched up with a bleach pen.

I honestly think the bullseye ones are much easier than the spirals, bc you don't have to worry about every little fold! Of course, they take longer to prep bc of all of the bands, but totally worth it!Gonna try the bullseye style too! Cool shirts.
Morning ladies! Oh my gosh, I realized this morning I leave for WDW is 2 weeks and 3 days! EEK! I know I should be super excited, but I feel like I have too much to get done before we go! I think it is bc we are doing MNSSHP, and I am shipping our costumes via UPS bc I am scared they will get lost in our luggage! AND, I am waiting on my Cinderella dress to be altered, and I am really nervous about it fitting "just right"! You know how it is, once you hit that two week mark- you think CRAP so much to do!!
Hey All. First thing, I would like to thank everyone for all their great advice.
We don't go until January but thought if we were going to do this we should give it a try early...just in case!
So, we ventured across the border to Port Huron and found a tulip dye kit at Jo Ann Fabrics...a very nice lady who saw us looking at the kit recommended that we purchase the soda ash even though the kit didn't say we needed it. Since it was only about $5 we did.
We soaked the shirts...all 100% cotton purchased from Wal Mart. Brands are Pennmans,Faded glory, white stag and george.
We started with soaking in soda ash...we did all the shirts with a green mickey to start with...only 2 turned out really well.I tried to use a small paint brush with bleach to outline the mickey heads (small green one) Not very happy with the results.
So i decided to give it a second go and bleached the centres of the other green ones that didn't look good. I washed them 2X before starting again...(the purple mickey T's are not as bright probably because of the bleach...the colours are more pastel now)...stitched the mickey head with floss wrapped with rubber bands, wet just the mickey head down with water--squeezed out excess-- dyed the heads with Purple...wrapped with plastic...let set for 24 hours before rinsing.
All of the purple ones have great definition. I think because the rest of the shirt was dry and didn't suck up any of the dye. The green ones that turned out are the last 2 that we did so they were not quite as wet as the 1st ones.
This project was supper fun...so hard to wait for the results though
So, here they are:

Hello. My shirts are hanging to dry. I guess my Mickey head didn't turn out to bad. I'm going to load my cameras software on to the computer. Then I'll take a picture and try to link it to this forum. I would like feedback to see if I need to make modifications to my shirt. I tnink the key is to make lots of small stitches with the floss.
That's good to hear Marcy- our costumes cost A LOT of money- my dress alone was around $300- and I dont trust it to the airlines! Who do you use, UPS or FEDEX?
