Tid Bit about Mission Space

My parents next door neighbor helped build Mission Space. When I was at my parents last night he was out. Of course, I had to bring up Disney. He asked if I had rode MS. I told him that I had and that I felt ill for about an hour and half afterwards. He asked if my hearing was equal in both ears or if I could hear better out of one of my ears. I told her that yes I could hear better in my right ear. Not by much but a little. He told me that was why I was sick. He said that when you can't hear equally in both ears it messes with your equilibrium. He said that he has head of people who are deaf in one ear feeling sick for days.

I thought this was useful information for everyone. I am sure that this does not apply to everyone but it was what I was told.

Wow! That is very interesting. Thanks for sharing. I almost blacked out on Mission:Space. Amazingly, no motion sickness though! :confused3

Hmm.....that's probably true and I've never thought about it. My sister's boyfriend became sick on M:S a couple years ago while she was fine. He can hear better out of one ear. Maybe this did have something to do with it.

Interesting.

Does that explain Motion Sickness in general? I have scar tissue on my right ear drum from a major infection I had as a child. I have been terrified to try M:S because spinning in general does not go well for me. I am also prone to vertigo if I take long flights.

The only time that hearing loss would be related to one's equilibrium is if they have an ear infection (or had one recently) or had Meniere's disease. Most hearing loss is no way related to the fluid levels of the semi-circular canals (which is what controls equilibrium). There are some medications that would affect it, as well as, for some people, consuming too much salt. But just hearing better out of one ear than the other is not going to disturb equilibrium.

Wow thanks for the info. I still want to try it but at least I know I probably will get sick(i have better eharing out one ear too)! lol.

Whether it is actually medically true......
I have limited hearing in my right ear and get really bad headaches.
I can use it as an explanation for DH as to why I don't like M:S and I get headaches!
He thinks I am making it up....and gets mad when I don't want to ride it. :rolleyes2
