I was at WDW in October and got a 4 day pass ~ if I were to buy a year pass would they deduct the $ I paid for the 4 day pass?

No, you would have had to upgrade your tickets within 14 days of first use in October 2007.

Did you purchase a no expiration ticket or have you not even used this ticket. If either of these are the case than you can upgrade you ticket and only pay the difference between the two tickets.
