Tickets on ebay?

Hate to be blunt, but it is illegal to resell the used tickets and foolish to but them.

Many goo dthings to but on Ebay, but also many chances for people to scam those foolish enough to try to beat the system.

I would have to advise against eBay, some are forged and some have been used partially and wont work for you.

Only buy from known dealers such as AAA or Disney them self.

Well, in terms of buying tickets on ebay, just don't, it isn't worth the risk of ruining your trip to save a couple bucks. Now, on the subject of the biometric scan, my husband and I decided to do an experiment. He and I swapped APs and got in line. I entered my ticket, it failed, tried it again, it failed, CM bypassed the system, "Have a nice day!". Now, H enters his ticket, it failed, tried it again, it failed, CM bypassed the system, "Have a nice day!". Two failed APs in a row, and the CM never asked for ID. I'm sure there are the diligent ones out there, but our experience was interesting.

I wouldn't even though I know it is tempting:rolleyes1 .... try abfabflorida.com Tickets were cheaper than using mousesavers undercovertourist link.

tmatthews, thanks for this link. The ticket I want is $25 cheaper from them than UT.

A little off topic. If they do in fact take finger print reading, is it legal? I guess as long as it is used for ticket varification only. But also if you lose your ticket and they have your finger print, why can't they just issue you another one?

It's not a finger print.. it's partial image of a random part of your figure and a mathmatical formula is derived from the image.. and then they keep looking for a match on that each time you use the ticket.

It's a unique identifier to about 1 in 500 people.. so they couldn't re-issue your ticket on that basis.

And they could never solve a crime with it for example.

There are a lot of dirt bags on ebay and I would never ever buy or sell through there again. I sold a 10 day hopper, it was mine, never used. Well the person seemed nice enough. I got a call from her when she got there saying they told her the ticket was stolen and all this and that. I talked to guest services, gave them the numbers off the other three tickets that were purchased with it and used already by us. Well after two days we got it all straightened out or so I thought.AK guest services told me that evidently someone had taken my scan off of ebay and used that number and reported it stolen the day before she presented the ticket and they had reissued one to this person. Also someone had copied my ebay ad and had used it to make a bunch of fraudulant sales. But they took care of her, gave her a new ticket because it was proved I had the original tix etc etc
I offerred to refund her money and she said oh no, we will just use the ticket the next time we go, no big deal. Well after a week all of a sudden I get a charge back from paypal. She said that I had sold her a bad ticket, yadda yadda. I gave paypal the guys name at AK GS and everything. She brought up the fact on the back of the ticket it says non transferable and said that Disney does not honor tickets resold. I explained it wasnt a resold ticket, it was brand new and never used. They found in her favor, based on the fact that the ticket states non transferable...gave her here money back and she sent me the orig ticket that had void stamped on it when paypal told her to return the ticket that was replaced with, she sent it refistered/certified and even after I told paypal she sent me the old ticket they did nothing further because she said she sent me both tixs which she didnt...she had told AK GS she wanted to keep the tinkerbell ticket as a souvie for her dd and they let her keep the old one...
Anyway long story short..she took the new ticket she got at AK and went and put it on a room card at WL the day they gave her a new ticket. The amazing thing was the "scammed" ticket from ebay was also put on a WL kttk card the day before she said she tried to use it, she was bound and determined to scam someone irregardless. Sad thing is I think she is from DIS because of some things she had said on the phone and during the problems..so no, stay away from ebay

Thanks knox, I was so upset when it first happenned, I was over here on DIS going omg, someone stole my ticket listing off ebay or something and now this poor lady doesnt have one and I felt so bad that I had ruined her vacation and then in the end she was just a scam artist, trust me, I will never trust anyone named Lisa from NJ again:rotfl2: Whats sad, is she sells alot on ebay, books, so I thought I was safe selling to her...wrong again lmao Live and learn!

ps- I do have to take some responsibility, when I sold the ticket I took a pic of both the front and the back of the ticket which was STUPID< it gave other ppl the number off the back of the ticket..

The "Simple" Explanation

First of all, Child (Age 3-9) and certain other tickets, such as the YES Program, do not take scans and will unlock the turnstile if they are valid for the park.

The first time a ticket is used it will read the fingerprint and select an area about 1/4 inch by 1/8 inch and analyze that area.

It will then apply a mathematical algorithm to that reading, convert it to a numeric string, and store that string of number tied to the serial number of the ticket in the Automated Ticketing System (ATS) computer.

On subsequent entries ATS will look for that particular string on the ticket. If it finds it, the turnstile will unlock and a green light will come on.

If ATS cannot find that string, a message will show up of "identification fails". At that point the greeter wil have several options; one of these is to tell ATS to replace the numeric string tied to the ticket with a new once based on the most recent scan.

If MYW tickets were purchased at WDW directly from ATS in one transaction they may be linked together, in which case the people can switch the tickets.

And there are times when the lines are very long and management may decide to turn off the scanners for a while, in which case as long as the ticket is valid for that park it will be accepted without a scan.

(And this is the short version; I will not post or discuss the long version.)

Really? That's the shorter version? :)

I thought mine was shorter ... if less accurate.. ;)

what kills me is that some of these people are bidding way higher than the full-price of the tickets! That's nuts when you can buy them safely cheaper directly from Disney!
Though I must stick up for most of the ebay community. I've bought and sold hundreds of items and never have had a problem. I've bought some great items at amazing prices and sold things I thought weren't worth much and have gotten great deals from them. But buying something that I won't know is worth anything till I'm in Orlando is scary - I wouldn't want to start off a vacation like that!

They have only buy it now tickets, they have a shop on 192 in orlando and have thousands of positive feedback. Are they a legit broker for Disney? How do you find out?

They have answered my e-mails promptly and seem to be very straight forward.

Feedback from anyone?

Karen

be careful, though. there is someone on ebay who keeps trying to sell the same tickets over and over. He changes his seller name, but the ad is the same and when I email questions, I get the same exact answers. He trys to get me to buy them privately not through ebay, then the auction mysteriously disappears and reappears under another name. People are bidding on his items, however, they are always people with zero feedback which makes me suspicious. The whole thing is very shady.
