Hello was wondering if you can still just go to concierge or a resort front desk and buy actual tickets to the parks. We are just wanting to wing it (other than the gotg virtual que) and not do the on the phone, band, mouse control thing. Thanks

Yes but there has to be reservations available for the park you want. For example, tomorrow all parks are soldout for ticket reservations. Today, only Epcot and AK are currently available. MK is not available for the rest of the month.

You need a reservation to be able to enter any of the Disney parks. That is also pointed out on the Disney official reservation/ticket purchases pages. It won't do you much good to buy a ticket for today if there aren't any reservations remaining. Is there some reason you don't want to buy your tickets (and make a park reservation) ahead of time?

If you are referring to Genie as the 'on the phone thing', you are mixing up two different unrelated things. If you have a ticket/reservation, there is no requirement to use Genie.

Why not buy them yourself on the website so you can get your park reservations ? You already need Disney accounts to get GOTG. At least that way you don’t end up paying on-site rates for a Disney hotel & not being able to go into a Disney park. (Conceirges can sell you a ticket but they pull park reservations from the same pool as the average joe buying a ticket online.)

If park reservations are booked up for that day, they can’t sell you a ticket. I agree with suggestions above to buy tickets online now and make park reservations for the days you plan to be there, to avoid being shut out of the parks entirely.

Edited to add - you can “wing it” IN the parks, once you have a ticket and reservation to get in. You cannot “wing it” day-of, when it comes to actually getting into a park now that park reservations are in place.

Ooops Sorry I mean after you buy your tickets (and get your resv.) can you just get a ticket, and then not mess with the whole phone thing other than the virtual que? Sorry not clear on that.

Yes.

Last summer 2 of us used MagicBands, 3 of us used iPhones and 1 used a hard ticket.

We all had hard tickets for backups.

Sorry, still a little unclear. Are you asking can you purchase a ticket, book a park reservation snd then just visit the park without genie+? Thinking wander the park and ride what interests you?

If so, Yes, this is still doable. Genie+ is optional and you can visit without it and even without checking your phone for current wait times. Reality is you will provably get less done than those who are checking current wait times to plan their next attraction but, if you don’t mind getting less done, just going with the flow is an option too!

Phone thing- lol. I thought you meant picking up a phone & calling Disney 😆

You no longer need the Disney World App to survive the park. Most places allow you to order by walk up & there are screens in a few places in each park with wait times.

But I would advise to familiarize yourself with the app anyway as it makes joining dining waitlists & checking ride wait times easier. Nobody likes to hike across a park for a ride only to find out it’s been down for the last hour.
