Tickets non-transferable!! Upset. Can someone explain this policy?

Considering the fact that you got a much bigger discount than the average guest with a longer expiration date, it seems a bit much to get upset about Disneys policy on said passes. Disney is giving the Military folks a great break on tickets, accept it and be grateful for their acknowledgement of your FIL service.

(That reminds me, whoever found a guest cast maingate card and didn't turn it in, you officially stink. You can't use it without the cast card, so its useless to you...)

OK, I'm not complaining against Disney offering a wonderful discount to military. Since a 4 day pass is $177, we paid $44 per day which is a great deal! No complaints! I appreciate all the explanations and I would never contemplate breaking the Disney rule. I just wasn't aware of it probably because we've never had a situation like this. Just wanted our Orlando friend to come enjoy one day at the parks with us since we had an extra ticket day. I understand the "why" now. I am sorry that my original post seemed to some like ranting or ungratefulness. I just wanted to know the "why" behind the rule. Thanks again.

It's OK. You didn't know, and the answer took you by surprise. Fraudsters are attracted to Orlando for the "easy tourist prey." Naive WDW tourist noobies lose lots of money to scams. Sometimes it completely ruins their long-dreamed-of trip. Best to make it hard for scammers, so they move on to easier opportunities somewhere else.

Um, have you read the thread? The point was covered several times over, and OP even acknowledged the error and apologized, your response just seems a little redundant and a bit harsh.

Adam

as though other threads aren't redundant and "a bit harsh"?
i wanted to voice my opinion as others have.
we are all allowed to have an opinion.

Ah the old "two wrongs" recipe for a right, I haven't ever been able to make that one work for me in the past, but good luck with it.

I must say that this thread has been educational to me. I have always wondered why they do the fingerprint scan thing, and I found this information quite useful.

I am pretty sure that I still have an old 'never expires' paper ticket with one day left on it in my safe. We got it on our honeymoon in 2003, but we have never tried to use it in the two times we have returned since then.

I am pretty sure that I still have an old 'never expires' paper ticket with one day left on it in my safe. We got it on our honeymoon in 2003, but we have never tried to use it in the two times we have returned since then.

So my friend had a paper ticket from 1996 when she was a kid and I told her to bring it with her this week. She already bought a one day hopper but why not see what she could do with it? She saw two dates stamped on it and it clearly read a 4 day hopper. She assumed with two dates stamped that it meant she had 2 more left. She also thought she had to pay and upcharge from child to adult. Turns out, the magnetic strip HAD worked on one day and the CM actually could pull up the ticket to see that it only had one day left on it, however, not wanting to disappoint her, she got approval to go head and grant the two days she always had thought she had left on the ticket all these years. (They only stamped it if the machines weren't working that day so being 9, she didn't remember they had used a day that wasn't reflected on the stamp.) Anyway not only did she give her that extra bit of magic, she was not up charged for the adult difference ("its not your fault you grew up" says our lovely CM) and then she adds them to her single day hopper card and then still don't ever expire! I have seen two old tix get converted successfully since spring, so definitely keep these old tickets around folks! However, you should take a pic for nolstagia. Once they convert it to the new RFID tix (the only way to enter now), you will not get your old ancient paper ticket or card back.

Had great service both times!

That part of this situation is the regular and standard WDW policy of partially-used child tickets.
When the "former child" comes back to WDW that person is always given a no-charge upgrade
to an adult ticket for the remaining days on the ticket.

The offering of the "extra day" that your friend thought was there IS "extra pixie dust."
