Tickets/ FastPass question regarding school trip

My dd is going to wdw on a class trip in March. She will have 3 park days, and the school is not giving them access to the tickets ahead of time. Unsure if they will have bands or paper tickets, and they are being handed out daily. Most likely to enforce curfew?

Will they be able to get same day fast passes at the kiosks? If the school doesn’t hand out the same band/ ticket daily, is it impossible to use the App for fast pass?

We go fairly often, she is used to using the app and FastPass. She would like to at least get some day-of passes , especially since her friends have not been to Disney World! Tia!

We have a school trip in March also, and our band director hasn't gotten back to me about getting ticket info to book FP. We have been told they will be able to book FP, I just don't know when.

If they set of the MDE app on their phones, there should be a number on the ticket to link the ticket and make their FPs there for the day. I doubt they will get MB if they are handing out tickets daily. Are they onsite?

We have never done a school trip, but I had a discussion with other band moms on a message board who said it works best for each kid to have their own MDE and make their own FP. When a group decides they want to ride something, each one of them gets on and starts looking for a FP, grabs the first one they find, and then modifies the time so they have a window where they can all go on the ride together. They said when they started linking accounts, kids started accidentally messing up other kids' FP, so it's easier to just work individually but cooperatively.

When my sister takes her music group she gets all the ticket numbers and assigns them to kids then they use a class period to set up MDE accounts (if they don't already have one), enter the tickets and once they are able to personalize the bands they do that and they make their FPs as soon as they can. I know they stay at Disney hotels so they may be able to make them 60 days out but I don't know for sure. Maybe groups are different. I do know they made their FP in advance.

It helped them that I knew a bit about the new FP system before they were at that point in their planning so I was able to help a bit (with help from Dis'ers).

I think a lot depends on how knowledgeable the teacher is or, if they're using a travel agent, how knowledgeable they are.

My DD is going as well in March for Band. We were told they would be getting a picture of their ticket with their ticket ID number before they board the charter busses to leave on Friday. This gives them the whole drive over to Florida to schedule fast passes with friends. They will not get their actual ticket until right before they go through the park gates. I told her that she will be very limited to what rides she will be able to get fast passes for; but I really don't think it matters to her since she is going to be with friends. I think this will be her main source of enjoyment / fun.
We are going as well to watch her and the band march at MK and I am trying to figure out where to stand so Dad can get all the pictures / video he wants. And we are kind of looking forward to our first "adult only" trip since she was born.

We think they may be getting magic bands daily, they are staying at All stars. I do wish the school had thought of a way to give them access to fast passes ahead of time, even if it was just at 30 days.

Hopefully, if they do get a band daily, they can at least go to kiosk. Is there any way to use mde then, if no link to an account? Especially if she gets a different band each day?

Sorry for so many questions, it’s very confusing.

I wouldn’t expect these to be different than any other ticket. They have to scan a finger that’s matched to the ticket. So, they kind of have to use the same band each day.

Hm good point! They will be having a meeting closer to the trip, we will know more then. I just wondered if there is a way to link that band to de if we don’t have it in hand until she’s there. She’s not too concerned, obviously I’m just a hyper planner!

Magic Bands can be linked to MDE with a number printed on the back. But that's not your ticket. They will still have to be issued tickets. Then they could link the ticket and the MB to their MDE. Though if they are onsite, they may have to link the MB through their resort reservation.

This page has the info for the tickets that are sold for performance groups. They are multi-day tickets. It seems unlikely that they'd give the kids a brand new one day ticket each day.
