Tickets and TIW question

We are DVC owners and have an upcoming trip in January. Staying at the poly.

We currently have three day park tickets but now we are planing two additional trips in 2016 and feel an upgrade to annual pass is the best option for us. I know we can upgrade with the cost being the diffenerece between the three day ticket and the cost of the annual pass. I guess we will need to visit guest relations to do this. Short of going to Disney Springs are we going to need to do this at a park? Can we do this at the resort? If we do need to go to the park, If we enter before upgrading is that not going to use a day therefore costing an additional amount for the difference between a three day and annual pass?

My second question is we also want to purchase a tables card. Can we just purchase that at the same time at guest relations? Will they print out the card for us there?

Thanks for any advise you can give us here and merry christmas.

You can not purchase at the resort
You can upgrade to an AP at any ticket window or at guest relations but to get a TIW you need to go to guest relations. Ticket window can't do them

If you purchased your ticket for full price you can upgrade anytime
If you bought it at a discount you should enter the park first

I did not purchase with a discount so I am thinking we just may go over the day we arrive to the magic kingdom and just upgrade then.

Then maybe enter the park an go over to guest relations and get tables in wonderland. That way we are set for the rest of the week.

If you bought your tickets as part of a WDW Resort Package (room and tickets,) then those tickets are considered
"discounted" tickets.

Regardless, it can never HURT you financially to use a ticket to enter a theme park BEFORE upgrading,
and it very well could HELP you financially to do so.

We've always gotten our TiW at Epcot's GS. They print it out there. It's a flimsy ticket, not an actual card anymore. Be sure not to lose it. There's a hefty replacement fee.
