I'm curious what the time limitations are and the process to follow to convert a directly purchased date based ticket into an annual pass?

Also, does it matter if you are trying to convert to the Sorceror Pass? (This might involve a direct DVC purchase as or during the trip)

If it's a used date-based ticket, upgrades must be done within 14 days of first use and/or prior to the expiration date of the ticket. So you can use the ticket during your stay and upgrade at any time prior to park close on the date you use the last entitlement. The AP will be back-dated to have started on the date you first used the date-based ticket. NOTE: a date-based ticket cannot be upgraded if it was used on a date that is blocked-out for the AP.

An unused date-based ticket can be upgraded at any point. If it expires the credit can be used toward an AP if that's your choice.

Credit will be the price WDW charged online for the same ticket at the time you purchased the date-based ticket. If prices increase between purchase and upgrade, you'll pay that difference.

Just a follow question to upgrading to AP's... we have a trip planned with a Bounceback offer this November that includes 10-day hopper tickets. We've since decided that we'd like to get AP's, but were told that if we remove the park tickets from our package that we might lose the BB discount. As an alternate the CM told us that we could simply upgrade our 10-day ticket to an AP at guest services after we check-in and not lose the room discount. I'm fine with that, but I also had plans to add the $100 photopass option to our AP. Can I add this photopass option there at guest services on our first day and immediately start utilizing that feature to save our photos? Or would there be a waiting period?

My other concern with upgrading to AP's on our first day is that we won't be able to make our park reservations for the entire trip until right then after check-in. Should I be concerned that our Incredi-pass would be out of park reservations for the week BEFORE Thanksgiving for any of the parks?

Not sure if this answers your ?, but I cancelled a trip and didn't remember that I had a credit for the unused date based ticket for 4 years, at which time I called DVC and used the credit to buy a Sorcerer's AP.

Removing tickets doesn't seem like it should affect your BB since you can book a ticketless package known as a "basic package" under the BB terms. Maybe try calling again and speaking with another CM?

The only time removing tickets from a package should affect a discount would be something like free dining that requires tickets to be purchased as part of the package terms.

I just purchased my first AP through the app. It shows up in the app assigned to me. I have received a confirmation email. It is not in my junk mail. Do these take a while? I thought it would be instant.

UPDATE: I am not receiving any emails related to my annual pass. Customer support had no explanation. For example, when I make a theme park reservation, I do not get the email although it shows as correct. It does not appear in Junk Mail.

I receive all other emails from Disney such as a confirmation code or when the person resent my annual pass confirmation. That came right through. Anything directly related to my annual pass or reservations etc. is not.

Anyone had this issue? Is there a particular email I need to be absolutely certain its on my safe sender list? Nothing Disney is on the blocked list.

This doesn't surprise me. Two family members have the same AP and one always receives emails, the other, never, like you mention. No one can tell him why. So, the other family member forwards them on when applicable.

It's my first time buying tickets/park planning by myself, and I was wondering how the date based tickets worked? I'm planning to go from 9/14-9/18. (MK on 9/16 for Not So Scary, we already have those tickets bought.) If I get a date-based, 3 day tickets and start them on 9/14, it says I can use them until 9/18. I understand that part, but does this allow me to go to ANY WDW park during those days? So I can go lets say, Epcot on 9/14 for Food and Wine, 9/16 MK (full day ticket) + Not So Scary, and then AK on 9/18? I won't need a specific Epcot, MK, AK ticket? I can just use that 3-day, 1 park each ticket and as long as I don't attempt to park hop, i'm okay?

Also, how does this work with the Disney Visa Premiere CC? I use that and then I get the additional benefits? Is there any specific deals going on for around that time that I would be able to benefit from as a Visa holder?

Correct. 1 park each day unless you purchase a park-hopper.

You'll get reward points on the Disney Visa. Whether you take the points or apply them towards the purchase is up to you and done through the Chase website/app. I don't know of any specific ticket offers currently for the Visa.

It sounds like you’re aware which tickets to buy but just confirming you are purchasing a ‘3 day Theme Park Ticket’ and not a ‘3 Day, 3 Park Ticket’ as those cannot be used to access MK.

Yup! That ticket is valid through September, but since it’s every park but MK, we’re going with just 3 3-Day Theme Park Tickets (me, my sibling and our mom are going) instead of the 3 day, 3 parks ticket. We’re planning on doing the Not So Scary Halloween Party but we’d also figure we could just make a day of it, so we’re adding an MK ticket (1 of our Day Theme Park Tickets) on top of the normal Party ticket, so we can get in at Park open versus the normal 4PM Party Opening time. My mom only has 3 parks in her for this trip, so we’ve decided to axe MGM/HS this trip and focus on Epcot, AK and MK.

Where is the most convenient location to both activate and also obtain a physical Annual Pass card on the MK Monorail Loop? I know you can just scan in to activate, but I'd like to get a physical card too since I have never had one. I've never visited any in-person guest services locations and have no idea where they are.

You can activate an AP at any ticket window or Guest Relations window. Probably outside MK is the closest for you (highlighted yellow) located to the right of the turnstiles before entering the park:
