So I have my GAD vouchers for DH and myself, and I'm planning on upgrading them to 7 day passes when I get there in Oct. I'm going to buy a 7 day child pass pre-Aug in case ticket prices go up again for DS (too young to do program).

And so now I've sat down to plan out what we are going to do. Because of the MNSSHP - Spectromagic is only being shown 3 of the 7 nights we will be there. One of them we will be at Fantasmic for, so that is out. The other is the 1st night we get there, and I promised my husband I would take him to Epcot the first day. So that leaves one night. But if I do it that one day then we will be in MK 3 days, and AK only 1. I'm the only one of the 3 of us that has done AK, so until we get down there and get I won't know how big of a hit it is for my boys.

So my ? is this...

If I upgrade my pass once, could I upgrade it again (to an 8 day pass) if I find out I want more time at AK to do half a day at AK and the night at MK? Also, can you do that - use one park ticket for the morning and a whole other one for the evening to do two different parks on the same day? We aren't doing park hoppers, and it is cheaper ($9) to add the 8th day, then to just buy the park hopper to begin with. And other than this, I know we won't want more than one park in one day.

Sorry for my longwinded ?. Thanks in advance for the info :)

You may upgrade your ticket as many times as you want within the first 14 days of use. You can add days, add the hopper, add WPFM all at separate times.

You can't use one day of a multi-day ticket to enter another park on a single day, if you have used the same ticket already that day. If you want to hop, you either need to purchase the hopper option (55.38 per ticket) or you need to have a completely separate ticket to use, not just a day on a ticket that you have already used. That doesn't make economic sense since one day costs $79 plus tax and the hopper option is $55.38, but it does work if you choose to do it that way. :)

If you decide to add the hopper, you can add it when you arrive at your second park of the day. No need to buy it in advance if you are not sure you will use it. If one day at AK is enough and you want to do MK for three days, then you won't need the hopper. Schedules may change between now and your trip as well - more Spectro nights might be added.

You can add days anytime you like (up to a maximum total of 10 days) as long as it's done within 14 days of the ticket's first use.

No, you may not use two "days" in one day. To visit more than one of the four major theme parks on the same day, you must purchase the Park Hopper option. For more information, see post #15 in the Everything About WDW Tickets sticky thread at the top of this forum. :)

The only way you can park hop is to have a Park Hopper option on your ticket. You cannot use two "days" to visit two parks. Disney has that angle figured out, and they know it's cheaper. If you try to enter a second park without a Park Hopper, you will be refused entry.

Sorry! But the only way to do what you want to do is to add the Park Hopper.

A base ticket is one major (theme) park per day. You are allowed to re-enter the same park if you leave it on one day, but it can only be used at the one park.

Note that the ticket will state on it either "Not Valid For Park Hopping" or "One Theme Park Per Day". That should be a hint.

If you put the ticket in the turnstile of another park the display on the Guest side of the turnstile will be "ACCESS DENIED". The top line of the display on the Greeter side will give information about the ticket, and the second line of the display will say "CROSSOVER NOT PERMITTED". The turnstile will not unlock.

This is because Disney charges $3.00 per day over four days on a ticket, but charges $52 to allow hopping. It does not make economic sense for Disney to allow this.

If you actually have multiple tickets (more than one physical ticket per person) as opposed to multiple day tickets, you can use these tickets for multiple entries. But it makes absolutely no economic sense as a separate ticket costs a lot more than adding hopping to a ticket.

Or, as I recently told a Guest who was arguing with me about using a different day on the ticket:

The turnstile computer thinks today is Friday. The turnstile computer at the other park also thinks today is Friday. The two turnstile computers talk to each other. If you can convince this turnstile computer that today is not the same Friday as the other computer thinks, it will let you in.
