Ticket upgrade question

I'm a little slow. Lack of sleep and kids have eaten all my brain cells.

I have a 5 day MYW pass. On day 1, after we have entered the park to lock in the price, I need to upgrade it to an 8 day pass. If I'm doing things right, that would be an extra $31.95.

DH and I are talking about taking a parents only trip around Christmas. So, I thought I would see if it would be cheaper to upgrade to an AP.

If we don't upgrade to an AP, we will be buying a 4 day MYW pass later. That would be $297.14 (each). So, a total additional cost of $329.09 per person.

If, on day 1 of this trip, I upgraded to the AP instead of upgrading to an 8 day ticket, do I pay the full AP price of $609? Or is the value of my 5 day pass backed out of that total?

You will pay the difference between the gate price of the ticket you are holding and the gate price of the ticket you are upgrading to.

So in your example, you would pay the difference between the 5 day ticket you have and the AP. After using your ticket once.
