Hi -

I read the whole Ticket post and I am still unclear (sorry!) about how upgrading a ticket works. We are rescheduling our WDW trip from March to June. When we go in June, we have more time and we want to add a day. I have already purchased 3-day tickets for my family and we'd like to add a fourth. I purchased them online at disney.com and paid regular/gate price, or whatever you call it! Just tickets, no package.

If I understand correctly, I can only add days once we've gotten to the park and used them for the first time? And then I have the remainder of the time we are there to add a day but I must do it before the last day? How does pricing work? Would I essentially pay the cost difference between a 3 and 4 day ticket or would I have to pay a full price one day ticket for all four of us? I hear from my friend who lives in Orlando that a price increase is imminent, will I be affected by this since I bought the tickets before the increase?

It's all so confusing!

Thanks :)

Hi -

1. I read the whole Ticket post and I am still unclear (sorry!) about how upgrading a ticket works.

2. I have already purchased 3-day tickets for my family and we'd like to add a fourth. I purchased them online at disney.com and paid regular/gate price, or whatever you call it! Just tickets, no package.

If I understand correctly,

3. I can only add days once we've gotten to the park

4. and used them for the first time?

5. And then I have the remainder of the time we are there to add a day but I must do it before the last day?

How does pricing work?

6. Would I essentially pay the cost difference between a 3 and 4 day ticket

7. or would I have to pay a full price one day ticket for all four of us?

8. I hear from my friend who lives in Orlando that a price increase is imminent,

9. will I be affected by this since I bought the tickets before the increase?

1. The ticket sticky has not been updated for about two years, now.
It is still accurate to many of its points, however.
2. OK. You purchased "directly from Disney."
3. Yes. But...
4. Nope. You do NOT have to use tickets bought "directly from Disney" before you upgrade.
5. Close. You have up to 14 days following first use of the ticket, and it can
still be done AS LATE AS actually ON the last day that you use the ticket's last asset.
6. You must pay the difference between what you PAID ORIGINALLY for the 3-day ticket
and the current price of a 4-day ticket. No "price-bridging" is done on tickets purchased "directly from Disney."
7. No.
8. Rumors are that it is coming, but nothing is formal, yet.
9. Yes, but there's nothing that you can do about it. Sorry.

Thanks SO much. I really appreciate your response. I get it now :)

Price-bridging applies to tickets purchased indirectly from Disney, such as resort package tickets, third party reseller tickets (AAA, UCT), and The Disney Store ticket sales. Your tickets were purchased directly from Disney (ticket booth sales or online tickets) so they can't be price-bridged. And if there is a price increase (which most seem to think is imminent) you will owe that price increase, plus the increased cost to add Day 4 to your tickets. Last time ticket prices increased, the 3-day ticket went from $262 to $274 (before tax). That's $12, a 4.58% increase. I'm guessing an increase next time will be similar.

If you bought a 3-day ticket from UCT, it's currently about $2 less than the Disney price. But you could keep your discount and keep your pre-increase price by using the ticket to enter a Theme Park first before upgrading. In the upgrade process, your ticket would be given that day's Disney Gate Price value (price-bridged). So all you would pay would be the cost to add Day 4 (+ tax). This upgrade must be done before the end of the last day's ticket use. In your case, you would have 3 full park days of ticket use to get the upgrade done.
