Buying tickets (5 adult and 2 child) online for our party. The website states the following.

Save time by printing your tickets at home and go straight to the front gate of the park

Are my printouts the tickets or will they be exchanged for a "plastic/paper credit card" type ticket? Ticket kiosk, guest services or the gate?

Also, if I buy the dining plan are the credits assigned to a specific ticket or will there be a separate card? I'm considering buying only 5 dining plans and then sharing.

Not sure about the dining question, but regarding the tickets, they are your tickets and you will need them each time you enter a park, or if you have PTP, if you board the Hogwarts Express. If you use paper tickets, do not tear them at all; when printed, it looks like the ticket is at the top, and there is a lot of text you can ignore, but the park entrance team members will want to see the entire printed ticket page. However, if you have the PDF file of the tickets on your smartphone, you can also be use that as your tickets, but i would still print them out and bring them in paper form, just in case you run into any issues.

That is really good information. I want to avoid carrying around 7 sheets of paper and would prefer the credit card type tickets. And everyone is getting a HP lanyard and I would like them to be able to use them for this trip.

Choose the kiosk pickup instead. Are you staying onsite?

Dining packages is a separate ticket

If you do the print out if park tickets, that is your ticket

They do not exchange them for plastic tickets at guest services

If you do kiosk tickets, those will fit in your lanyard

Staying at WDW and visiting for only 1 day. Will pick up at the kiosk. Thank you!

Will pick up at the kiosk. Thank you!
That's your best bet...make sure you have the confirmation # and credit card used to purchase online. If you don't have the confirmation # it's OK...there is an alternate way of getting tickets. Happened to me when I picked up my Frequent Fear Pass for HHN...I must have written the number down wrong but was still able to get the tickets. And...there is a TM there if you run into problems.
