ticket sensitivity

After reading a couple posts about problems with tickets scanning (or not scanning) I'm a little twitchy and was wondering if taking all my tickets through the airport security will harm them at all. I don't see why it would, but I'm the 'tour director' for the family trip and I don't want to mess up. :wizard:

That won't hurt them at all. Don't put them in your suitcase but if you have them in your carry on you will be just fine.

They should be fine. They would not be disrupted by x-rays, but rather by magnetic waves.

If if they WERE damaged (in the airport or ANYWHERE) its very simple and fast to go to Guest Relations outside each park and have them replaced "instantly". Especially if you have them with you, but just in a "damaged" condition.

The computer system that keeps track of the uses of these tickets can "spit out" new tickets with the corrected number of uses (or dates, in the case of APs) in seconds.

I've even had my lost AP (left in a FP machine!!) replaced with just my ID.
It took under a minute. My wife stayed in the entry gate line, and I returned to join her before she reached the turnstyles!

It is really fast to have them re-issued. My 17 yo son went thru 5 PAPs last year for some reason. The first time, we thought it was the magnetic strip, so he started keeping it in the sleeve. But after that, it still de-magnetized for no apparent reason 4 more times. :confused3 I went thru 2.
At MGM, they let him in, then sent a runner to go to Guest Services to get him a new one (that was number 5, so maybe they had a way of telling that)

The airport security has never been an issue tho.

We had a similar problem with my DD(11)'s ticket. We had to get a new one day ticket at MGM and then we had to get a new resort key for her(tickets were on the key). The next day, the new card worked at Epcot, but an hour later, when we tried to get a fastpass with it, it had de-magnetized. So, we had to go through the whole re-issue thing again. We never did figure out what caused it. She doesn't have a cell phone or a digital camera. The funny thing is that the other three of us do and nothing happened to ours. :confused3

Thanks for the info. We'll just keep our fingers crossed.

Been raining for a week here.

Just remember that not all tickets are traceable.

Annual Passes are via name, birthday and address.

Regular ticket media is only trackable via other tickets in the transaction and the ticket/transaction receipt. To track it via the other tickets in the transaction, you would need to purchase the tickets directly from WDW, and have all other tickets present.

If you buy tickets from MouseSavers, Ticketmania, and other outside vendors, they buy tickets in bulk from Disney. Often times they purchase several hundred tickets at a time. This means that if you lose one ticket, and try to have Guest Relations find it, it could be one of 600 tickets ( or more! ). When you buy from Disney, your tickets are stand-alone, and your ticket will be one of (group size).

But if I have photocopies of the backs of all the tickets am I O.K.?

Yep. As long as the serial numbers are legible you shouldn't have a problem.

Yes! As long as the CM's can read the numbers like someone said.

I love it when guests do that, because I will put all the tickets they have on top of the image of their ticket, and then punch the missing ticket's numbers into my computer

I carry-on my tickets all the time, no problems.

Once lost one in a FP machine, had a copy of it (front & back) and got it replaced in about 45 seconds.

We have never had a problem with taking tickets through the xray machines at the airport. They are like all the other digital stuff we take and don't seem affected in anyway. Taking them through water rides is another problem but hopefully you won't see that at the airport. ;)
