Ticket Question

A couple of years ago when we were at WDW, we bought the 5 day park hopper tickets for our family. We still have a couple days left on them. DD was in the child price range then, so her ticket was a child ticket. She's now in the adult price range. We want to be able to use that ticket. Does anyone know how WDW handles this? Will we just have to pay the difference in the child & adult ticket, or will we have to buy a new ticket for her? I guess the best scenario would be that WDW would just let her use the ticket, even though she's out of that price range now. Thanks for any info!

You can have the childs ticket upgraded to an adult. They will charge you the difference for the unused days. We upgraded old tickets when Animal Kingdom opened and it was very easy, just went to customer relations at one of the parks.

Disney will not penalize a child for growing up. Take your DD and the child's pass to guest services at any of the parks. Give them the child's pass and they will issue an adult PH with the same number of days and plus features as were remaining on the child's PH. And they will do it for free.

Note that you must take your DD with you to Guest Services. They need to see the "child" who has now grown into an "adult". This is to prevent people who try to cheat the system by purchasing "child" passes at a lower rate and exchanging them for "adult" passes for free.

they don't charge anything to change it from a child to adult.

I believe I read somewhere that this only applies to PHs that have been used already. If you have a 5 day hopper that was used while the child was under 10, then whatever days are left are upgraded. If the ticket had never been used, then I think they charge you for the upgrade.

We are in the same situation. We have a 5 day hopper with 3 used days on it. Our DDs (twins) turned 10 two months ago, so next month we need to have their tickets changed to adult hoppers when we go.

This past summer, my 20yo DS used a very old child's pass from 1989 with 2 days left. He just went to the gate, like anyone with a ticket. No Guest Services, no upgrade, no problems or questions. He also had no intention of using FP, but when I had a very old pass once and wanted to use FP, I just showed my ticket to the CM at the FP machine and got one printed out.
