Here’s my dilemma –

My wife and I are planning to take our kids to WDW in about seven years when they will be six and eight. In a flash of what I thought was brilliance, I signed up for the Disney Visa card. My plan was to charge everything to the card, and in seven years have enough reward dollars to pay for four five-day park hopper tickets, and whatever was left over would be used for other expenses.

This sounded like a great plan, until I read the fine print. It seems that Disney Reward Dollars expire after five years! You can redeem them for certificates, but the certificates have expiration dates as well! Translation – the first two years of earning reward dollars will expire before our trip!

Then I had another flash of brilliance – what if I redeemed the reward dollars just before they expire, and buy park tickets?

So, my question to everyone is – do park tickets have expirations dates? If I bought tickets two years in advance, would I be able to use them two years later?

Or am I just plain crazy?

Wait…… don’t answer that last one!

I would suggest redeeming your dollars everytime you get enough for a park hopper, and then buying one. They never expire, so you will be able to use them. And who knows, you may be able to go a lot sooner than you think if your reward dollars really start to add up. Seven years just sounds like such a long time to wait!

Puffkin is right, I would buy them as soon as you have enough, they do not expire and you may just save a few bucks by missing the price hikes. enjoy your trip in seven years:)

Thanks!

As for the seven years, my wife and I both agree that the minimum age for our kids to go is six, and since the second one won't arrive until next February, that puts us seven years away. We want our kids to be old to appreciate the magic!

Quick question - were are you staying on your Honeymoon? We stayed at Old Key West on ours, and found it to be perfect!

Need any suggestions for your 'moon?

Thanks again!
