We are planning a short trip to Disney. We are buying 3 day MYW tickets. We are interested in park hopping on only one of the days. The additional cost to add park hopper is about $55 per adult ticket. I have found a discount ticket where I pay for 3 day and get one day free so basically I'm getting a 4 day pass for the price of 3. So here's my question... If I go MK day 1 (use 1 day of pass), AK day 2 (use day 2 of our pass)but then that same day we go to Epcot (use day 3 of our pass), MK day 3 (use day 4 of our pass)?

Does this work?

No. It doesn't work like that. If you want to visit more than one park on any particular day you have to add park hopping. The system will not allow you to use multiple day entitlements to go to more than one park a day.

No, unfortunately. There is a ticket sticky on the Theme Parks board that explains exactly what happens if you try (the computer recognizes that the ticket is not a hopper, and you are denied entry), but basically, you can only use one "day" of your ticket on one calendar day. Buying extra days is inexpensive because Disney wants you to stay longer - more money spent on rooms, food, souveniers, etc. Water park entries are different - you can use more than one of those in one day.

The cost of adding a hopper is the same if you add it when you buy the tickets or if you add it when you get there. If you are not sure you will use it, you can upgrade your tickets when you arrive at the second park in a single day.

To park hop, you need the park hopper option.

When you buy a base ticket, you are buying days not admittances. This means you can only go to one park per day.

There is ONE way you can "park hop" without hoppers...

Each person must have TWO tickets. One for park one, one for park two. So in your case, you would have your 3+1 free ticket and use that to get into AK on Day 2. You would then need a separate (perhaps an old non-expired ticket? or a one-day ticket) ticket to enter Epcot. It would be more expensive than purchasing hoppers, but it can be done.

There's many places that sell a certain number of days, plus 1 day free. If you compare that price to other vendors who are just selling ticket days with no gimmicks, you will find little-to-no difference in price. It's just a marketing ploy to entice people, and see, in your case, it appealed to you. You have to compare what Disney tickets cost among a few vendors, to truly know if you are getting a "free" ticket day. When comparing prices, some already include tax and shipping, other sites post prices NOT including tax and shipping, and that makes their tickets seem cheap. Some places hide the shipping cost to the very end of the transaction, then you suddenly find out shipping's around $20 (should be less than $1), wiping out any savings you thought you were going to get. Tread very carefully and look for hidden tax and shipping charges.

Best bet for best price, Undercover Tourist. If you have time, sign up for the Mousesavers Newsletter link for a few dollar additional discount. UT does do the "free" day thing on some tickets, but their prices are still the best, their service is honest, reliable and fast, and people on these boards swear by them year-after-year, myself included. Their prices already include tax and free shipping, nothing hidden.

I understand your idea to Park Hop but it won't work. We always get hoppers, or plan to stay a little longer. Can you stay one more day?
