Ticket pricing and adding days

So I had a confusing experience on my recent trip. We decided to add one day to our 6 day base tickets (no hoppers) making them 7 day tickets for two adults. Initially the price I was given for this was 95 dollars and some change. I asked if she was sure and she said yes, because they just changed ticket prices but she would double check. Someone else came over and said that would be the price if we didn't have the dining plan but since we did have it we only needed to pay 35 dollars (altogether) for the extra day. I've never heard of the dining plan making a difference in ticket pricing. Is this a new thing or were they maybe misinformed?

They were both wrong.

The first price sounds like they quoted you a one day ticket, not adding it on. It should have been the price difference between the 6-7 tickets. Your second price sounds a little high too. Did you use the tickets first?

Horribly, horribly misinformed. Please tell me these weren't ticket booth CM's? :sad2:

Yes we had used the tickets already. When I look at the pricing for tickets on the app now, the difference between 6 and 7 days for two tickets comes to 32 dollars so I think that one was alright. I'm not sure though

I just checked the WDW website, and yes, the difference in price between 2 6-day tickets and 2 7-day tickets is $32

If that's what the site says it'd be right. I was just guesstimating it'd be closer to $10 per ticket before tax.

It would appear that they have increased the cost of adding an extra day to $15... It always used to be around $10.

Yeah I went up to the counter assuming it'd be 11 per ticket, so when she said 95 I was thrown off

You can do this at guest services in any park while you are there. The cost isn't that much, and you can decide when you are there if you really want the extra day. Sometimes I've gotten 6 day tickets and added another day, and sometimes I've been tired and wanted to spend a day at the pool, downtown disney, etc.

It was the concierge counter at my resort

At WL our last visit the person at concierge was clueless as well. Wanted link non-expire tickets to the key card and she said it can't be one. The ticket booth at Epcot said take it back to WL. Another person at concierge was able to fix it.

Are the $95 and $35 price quotes for a single ticket? Had you used the tickets first? It sounds like they were purchased as part of a package (with the dining plan), right?

If the ticket was part of a package (which is probably why the dining plan came up), and if you had used the ticket first, then the ticket should have been "bridged" to the current gate price and the additional day would have cost $10.65.

However, if you purchased the ticket directly and separately from Disney or you hadn't used it first, the price could be higher.

Looks like the price should be $15.97 per ticket based on the recent WDW ticket price increase. This is the WDW price difference between the 6-day and 7-day tickets including taxes. The cost for an additional day used to be $10 plus tax and is now $15 plus tax.

Since the recent changes, I've spent a significant amount of time every day fixing tickets sold by CMs at the resorts. :scared1: I agree with previous posters - just come see us at the ticket booths or stand in a Guest Relations line.

Keep in mind that a number of ticketing CMs aren't familiar with bridging - and the number seems to be growing.

Whenever possible, be sure going in that you know what the price should be, and don't be afraid to walk away if you don't get the correct price. There's more than one place at WDW to do the transaction. (That's why I would try the upgrade early in your visit, once you're sure you want to do it, rather than waiting until that last day when your options may be more limited if you don't find a fully-trained CM.)

Days 5, 6, and 7 cost about $16. each. Days 8, 9, and 10 cost about $10. each.
