Ticket Price Increase

Where can I buy DVC AP's online today? We've bought after the price increase the last two times and I do NOT want to do that again.

Ok - I found it. Can someone just confirm that if I leave the tickets at will call, I can pick them up when I go in October?? I'm assuming the start date will be when I pick them up. Is that also right?

Yes and yes.

After ALL of my hair pulling and eye scratching I went with this advice...you know, since it it made sense to me when you did it. *shaking my head*

I dont know why I made that so difficult for myself. LOL!

Now that I will be an AP holder :yay: I sure hope we get to go back again after our November trip this year. I figured I will utilize the dicount for shopping and the TiW card enough to maybe make up for it if we can only get back for a few more days before it expires. :goodvibes

I just bought the following:

2 adult 7-day MYW no exp @ $356.95
1 child 7-day MYW no exp @ $322.95

Total $1034.86
(for some reason I also got another $1.99 discount)

After using these tickets 1x, they will be worth $1218.37.

My total savings at this point is $183.51. :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I already have APs for use on our trip later this month, and I don't plan on renewing since our next trip will likely be October 2011 (after another price increase). I just have to decide if I want to hold the passes until 2011 and then upgrade or get new AP vouchers when I go at the end of this month. (That would cost me another $17.03 total.)

The upside would be that by next October, there will probably be another price increase, so my savings would be even greater. The downside is that Disney could decide to stop valuing discounted passes at gate price, so I'd have no savings whatsoever.

I'm going to renew in December and use my GAD voucher to lower the price we pay. I suppose I have to wait until December to do that. However, with the GAD voucher, I'm considering getting the water park add on to the pass!
Bobbi:goodvibes

When you use your GAD voucher to upgrade do they give you the $82.00 credit toward the higher ticket option that you're buying?

Your ticket will be worth about $414 after taxes after it is bridged. If the new DVC discounted AP is $399 before taxes, it comes out to $425 after tax. When you upgrade the ticket you will pay just $11 and your total cost will be $366 per AP. If you buy an AP today through member services it will cost $389 plus tax to equal $414. So, this should save about $48 per AP.

Wow! I had no idea the difference was that large. I had thought that I'd just buy the AP and save the hassle, but for that price difference I'm willing to be hassled a little.

Thanks! This has been a very informative thread, now I am convinced that I want to buy 7 day no expiration tickets but....

How do I get the Mousesavers rate??

Go to Mousesavers and sign up for their e-mail. A special link comes in the e-mail news letter that is not on the web site. This link has slightly better prices. I have bought all of my hoppers/non expiring this way. Very trustworthy and saves a few bucks over the WDW price. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to share my excitement in getting our UT tix earlier this evening! The only thing better than going to Disney is going to Disney for less $$$!

I think the best ticket for children is the 6 day non-expiring ticket. The 7 day ticket will have a bridged value greater than an AP. You can probably still call UT and have them change the ticket.

That is not the case.

Here's what I based my purchase on...

UT 7-day MYW no exp (child) $321.95
NEW gate price, 7-day MYW no exp (child) $389.79

Savings: $67.84

Child AP at new price: $385.53

Non-refundable difference between gate price of UT 7-day pass and child AP: $4.26

If I subtract that lost $4.26 from my total savings, I've still saved $63.58.

Now, let's compare that to the 6-day pass which you say is a better deal...

UT 6-day MYW no exp (child) $286.95
NEW gate price, 6-day MYW no exp (child) $346.13

Savings: $59.18

Net result - even with my $4.26 loss, it's still a bigger savings.

Some have said that Disney will not do the exchange if the value of what you are exchanging is greater than what you are getting - even if you aren't asking for the difference back. :confused3

The new DVC price for a child AP is $350 plus tax= $372.75, so you would need to subtract about $17 from your savings which will still be $51 and is still a great deal.
The $350 is based from Disney's ticket website price of $450 and a presumed $100 DVC discount.
Yesterday, someone posted a link on the Disboards that had the child pass at $460 before discount, but that must have been an error.

At any rate, you have saved a significant amount of money either way, but I was suggesting that UT may still be able to change your order if it has not shipped yet. (Which is very likely as they have been quite busy).

Where have you read that? I suppose it technically makes sense, since it wouldn't be an upgrade if it's for a lower-value ticket.

I'm pretty sure that the discount on childrens tix is 88$, not 100$...

I also bought the 7 day no expire ticket calculating it as the best value for a childs pass..we'll see what happens when I try to upgrade in December to a DVC Childs AP!

Let's hope this isn't true or there's a lot of upset people stuck with tickets. We just bought the 6-day PH No Expiration, 2 adults and 1 child. Those new values before tax are:

Adult: $402 (verus new AP of $399)
Child: $379 (versus new AP of $362)

I sure hope I don't get stuck with those as non-transferrable. I guess we can upgrade to the PAP if that's the case, but we're not huge waterpark people.

Or, I guess we'll know the outcome by our trip in December and I can just exchange them prior to use foregoing any savings of the AP and have just "pre-paid" the cost of the AP. As people try to use these tickets valued higher than the AP I look forward to understanding what happens.

There was never any reason for me to change my order.

I think if you look more closely, you'll see your calculations are based on an incorrect assumption. The discount on a child AP is not $100. The new DVC child AP price is $360 plus tax. Now, I must have hit the wrong number on my calculator because that makes the full price $383.40, not $385.53 as I said in my last post. That makes my net savings $61.45.

Looks like I need to take my own advice and try to change my order. I thought the dvc discount was $100 for a child's pass. Sorry if I led anyone else astray.

Here's the updgrade piece directly from the Disney Ticket FAQ:

Q. Can I upgrade an existing ticket? Can a Park Hopper® ticket purchased before these new tickets were introduced be upgraded?

A. In general, you can upgrade to any type of ticket – provided the new ticket is of equal or greater value than the old ticket – by simply paying the difference. However, no refunds will be issued if the new ticket is of lesser value.

It's a bit contradictory as it says "provided the new ticket is of equal or greater value than the old ticket" and goes on to say "no refunds will be issued if the new ticket is of lesser value."

So:
1) You can't upgrade to a lesser valued ticket
2) If you upgrade to a lesser valued ticket - no refund of difference

Does the price of the tickets go up on thursday the 5th , or is thursday the last day you can buy at the old price?

Now I am bumbed! How much did that being too busy to plan just cost me? :confused3
