Ticket Price Increase

If you buy the 10 day ticket, does it have a no expiration date even if you do not purchase that option? Someone told me it did. Thanks.

No. It's $226 to add no expire.

So, it looks to me as though UT still has the old tickets, which basically allows you to freeze last year's prices for your next trip if you plan right. I guess the key to find that "sweet spot," meaning to find the ticket that with the biggest discount off new gate prices, but still less than the gate price of the ticket you will need on your next visit.

The best opportunity seems to be in buying 7 and 8 day no expire tickets, because this is where the price increase was the greatest, and thus you lock up that price savings by purchasing these tickets at the old price. (This assumes, of course, that the ticket you *really* want is more than the cost of these tickets.)

Just as an example, if the ticket you really want is a 10-day, no expire park hopper, you could purchase it through UT right now (with the mousesavers savings) for $497.95 -- a very substantial savings ($65.44) off the current gate price of $563.39. However, you do better buying a 7 or 8 day no expire ticket and upgrading it, since the price incresae on the 7 and 8 day no expire option was greater dollar for dollar than the price increase on the 10 day no expire. Instead, you can buy a 7-day, water park, no expire for $446.95. Use it a day (just not at a water park!) and you can get the gate value of the ticket ($529.31) applied toward your 10-day no expire park hopper. Now, you pay the difference of $34.08, and your total cost is $481.03 -- a savings of more than $82.

For those wanting to purchase premium annual passes (and without a DVC discount), it looks as though the best ticket to buy from UT is the 8 day water park, no expire.

For the less expensive tickets, it looks like a $30 to $40 cost savings is in the neighborhood of what you can lock up.

Wonder how long UT will have tix.
