So just to be sure, how much will I save (approximately) on each DVC AP if I buy a 7 day No Expiration today for around $355? If Disney bridges the difference, will I have to pay anything? Me confused!

Your ticket will be worth about $414 after taxes after it is bridged. If the new DVC discounted AP is $399 before taxes, it comes out to $425 after tax. When you upgrade the ticket you will pay just $11 and your total cost will be $366 per AP. If you buy an AP today through member services it will cost $389 plus tax to equal $414. So, this should save about $48 per AP.

2 adult 7-day MYW no exp @ $356.95
1 child 7-day MYW no exp @ $322.95

Total $1034.86
(for some reason I also got another $1.99 discount)

After using these tickets 1x, they will be worth $1218.37.

My total savings at this point is $183.51.

I already have APs for use on our trip later this month, and I don't plan on renewing since our next trip will likely be October 2011 (after another price increase). I just have to decide if I want to hold the passes until 2011 and then upgrade or get new AP vouchers when I go at the end of this month. (That would cost me another $17.03 total.)

The upside would be that by next October, there will probably be another price increase, so my savings would be even greater. The downside is that Disney could decide to stop valuing discounted passes at gate price, so I'd have no savings whatsoever.

So just to be clear, if someone buys a discounted 7 day pass and uses one day, they can then get credit for the full 7 day pass at current gate value toward a new AP? Would the AP valid dates begin on the date that the first day of the 7 day pass was used?

I missed this opportunity this year - ordered our DVC APs last night for our next trip. But I'd like to be clear so that I can bear it in mind for future years. Seems like quite a workaround if you can always use this trick to get APs for less.

I am headed down to the World in Sept so the new ticket prices will be in place, therefore I am assuming the new bridged price would be $462.21 (based on the new ticket prices) and assuming the DVC discount is the same $100 off the AP would cost $424.93. Does that mean I would have a credit of $37.28?

No, they will not give you a credit or refund, so if you want to use that ticket to upgrade to an AP, you will lose that money.

The 6-Day Park Hopper math I did is based on the current AP prices, not the new. If I went to a 7-day or longer the gate price of the ticket (before taxes) was valued more than the cost of the DVC AP (before taxes) and therefore I would have overpaid.

It could be that after the price increase, the 7-day is the way to go. I think you need to look at the pre-tax cost of the gate value of what you buy versus the pre-tax cost of the DVC AP.

If you buy a ticket with a gate value higher than the cost of the AP, you don't get money back.

quite a jump on the 8 day & up tixmakes the AP w/DVC discount more tempting imo

yes it does, however it doesn't really pay unless you use more days per year on the AP than the no expire ticket you buy. My husband goes with a 10 park hopper w/ no expire because he only goes into the parks a few days per year, so he gets 3+ annual vacations out of it. I go more often, long weekends and such with friends and family members outside of the annual trip I take with him, so for me it pays to have the AP.

I'm going to renew in December and use my GAD voucher to lower the price we pay. I suppose I have to wait until December to do that. However, with the GAD voucher, I'm considering getting the water park add on to the pass!

Give a Day, it was the "Give a Day Get a Day" promo where by volunteering for a day with specific organizations you'd get a voucher for free admission to WDW or DL. They ran out of vouchers back in March or May, so it didn't run very long. Like any ticket, once you convert it to a one day pass, you can use that to upgrade to a different ticket. For DVC'ers looking for an AP, it was like an immediate $80 discount.

Can someone check my math. I bought 4 tickets (2 adults, 2 kids) from UT with the intention of upgrading to a DVC AP.

I included taxes in all the below numbers. Mousesavers gave me numbers with taxes and someone mentioned a 6.5% tax I added to the DVC AP numbers I found on disboards.

I paid $371.95 for an adult 6 day hop no exp and $337.95 for a childs 6 day hop no exp. At the time their gate value was $396.67 & $361.52 respectively and still under the DVC AP price of $414.29 & $366.36.

After the price increase the new 6 day hop no expire tickets now are valued at $428.13 adult & $403.64 for children. Meanwhile the new DVC AP price is now $424.93 & $383.40.

Technically I am "loosing" about $4 on each adult ticket and $20 on each child ticket when I upgrade to a DVC AP. Thats because they will not give me money back. But overall if I use the original tickets once and then upgrade I should get the new value of the 6 day hop no expire tickets and I should not have to pay any more for the DVC AP. Correct?

When all is said and done I will have paid $371.95 for an adult DVC AP and $337.95 for a child's. Total savings, on the 4 I bought, about $200.

That would mean I would use the 7 day PH with no exp, use it one day to turn it in for the AP?

I beat the price increase and just bought 4 Adult MYW 7-Day No Expiration tix for $355.95 each. I intend to upgrade to DVC AP in the future!

Because the UTC tix @ $371.95 incl tax are worth $428.13 with tax at the gate I will save $46.18 per AP?

I just answered my own question. According to Thomas Smith of the Disney Parks Blog there is no increase for the Premier Pass. Great news for me because inane one and at 700 plus tax I think it is a bargain even with no DVC discount and I do use it on both coasts.
