RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS SPICE UP DISNEYLAND RESORT

MUSIC FROM THE GRAMMY-NOMINATED GROUP AND SPECIAL EFFECTS CREATE ALL-NEW ROCKIN’ EXPERIENCES AT SPACE MOUNTAIN AND CALIFORNIA SCREAMIN’ FOR A LIMITED TIME

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Red Hot Chili Peppers, recently nominated for six Grammy awards, are red hot and their music will temporarily transform Space Mountain at Disneyland and California Screamin’ at Disney’s California Adventure into new rock n’ roll adventures. As part of the “Year of A Million Dreams” celebration at Disneyland Resort, rock fans’ dreams will come true as Rockin’ Both Parks provides new special effects and soundtracks specifically remixed to heighten every twist, turn, rise and drop of each thrilling attraction.

For a limited time (from January 3 through April 26, 2007), guests will experience Space Mountain like never before. The high-speed interstellar adventure, that has captivated Disneyland guests since the 1970s, will temporarily have an all-new twist. Rockin’ Space Mountain fans will find the attraction sporting new technology that features illuminated dancing rock fans, more than 200 lights brightening the track and a brand-new, customized soundtrack by Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band’s famous song, “Higher Ground,” which was a 1989 hit version of the Stevie Wonder original tune, will create an out-of-this-world rock adventure. Along with new technology and lighting, all systems are a go.

Riders of Rockin’ California Screamin’ at Disney’s California Adventure will also twist and turn to a new soundtrack. With a specially customized version of Red Hot Chili Peppers’s 1999 hit “Around the World,” guests will rock through the attraction’s 6,000 feet of track. The four-minute ride is the world’s longest steel looping roller coaster and takes guests from zero to 55 miles per hour in just four seconds.

Rockin’ Space Mountain and Rockin’ California Screamin’ are just some of the highlights of the “Year of a Million Dreams” celebration that began at Disneyland Resort in Southern California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida on October 1. For 15 months, Disney Parks are celebrating dreams coming true, making literally millions of dreams, large and small, come to life for eligible guests through the Disney Dreams Giveaway. Many money-can't-buy experiences—from exclusive Dream FASTPASSES for popular Disney attractions to around-the-world vacations or a stay in the special Mickey Mouse Penthouse at the Disneyland Hotel—are being awarded at random. In addition to the Disney Dreams Giveaway, guests are enjoying all new immersive entertainment experiences at the resort. At Disneyland Park, guests are meeting, playing and learning their royal ways with Disney Princesses at Disney Princess Fantasy Faire, dueling with Darth Vader at Jedi Training Academy and creating mayhem with Pirates in New Orleans Square. At Disney’s California Adventure Park, guests young and old are bopping to the beat and joining in the fun of the High School Musical Pep Rally. The Year of a Million Dreams celebration lasts through 2007.

Now if we can only get some Snoop Dog to replace the Haunted Mansion soundtrack I might be willing to say that Disney really has turned the corner. The only way this can get better is if they tear down Splash Mountain and put in another spinner.

Uhh, I thought we were talking about ticket prices???:confused3

Disneyland first (before 1/13), then WDW. By next Christmas expect to be paying near $75 +tax for a single park, no hopper ticket.
Just out of curiosity I plugged some numbers into this cost of living calculator to try to figure out how that $75 compares to 1971 when the MK first opened.

Ticket price data are from here.

General adult admission was $3.50. That's $17.42 today, and that just got you in the door. An adult "11 Adventure Ticket" cost $5.75 ($28.62 today). I'm not sure if they were all "E" tickets, but I doubt it. Disney claimed this particular ticket to be "a $10.70 value" which would be $53.26 today. You could buy individual tickets ranging from $.10 for an "A" ticket ($.50 today) to $.90 for an "E" ticket ($4.48 today).

I suppose some hardcore Space Mountain riders could burn up the equivalent of $75 in a day but I sure wouldn't want to be near them after their 13th ride (($75.00-$17.42)/$4.48).

Individual ride tickets went away in 1982 but I can't find fixed-price data for then so I'll use $15 which was the Jan 1 1983 price for adult admission to the MK. That equates to $30.36 today.

KS Jeff, you're way behind the times man. Do a search on inflation and CPI and such and you'll turn up a ton of threads.

First of the ticket price increases have hit Disneyland. Two day tickets have increased $6, prices on 3 or more day tickets have increased $10. Single day tickets haven't changed yet, but are expected to go up on Monday (rumor says $3 for single park and $5 for two parks).

In other rumors, the "2fer" ticket - buy a ticket for Disneyland, get a DCA ticket for free - is expected to return soon for Southern California and Mexico residents.

To bring pain to our ears as well as to our pocket books, Disneyland is also replacing the soundtracks on 'Space Moutain' and 'California Screamin' with "special" tracks remixed from songs by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. This change will also result in shutting off all of the "space" effects in 'Space Moutain'. It's rumored that the ride will feature concert lighting projected on the interior dome and "sparkle balls".

Yea - nothing says quality family entertainment more than 'Californication' with disco lights...

Wonderful. I won't feel so bad now that I bought my tickets on 12/31/06.

Ads for both the "2fer" discounted tickets and the new soundtracks on the rollercoasters started on L.A. television this morning. Looks like price increases will hit WDW sometime between mid-Feb and mid-March.

I was in the DS today and I got a few things for our upcoming trip and I pick up a ticket flyer, I don't know why I know the prices, but anyway on to the story the guy checking me out saw the flyer and asked me if I thinking about a trip, and I said that we were going in March. He then ask me if I had tickets yet and I said no. Then he told me I needed to buy them before the end of the month, because he thought prices were going up Feb. 1st. Now I don't know if he was right or just trying to make a sale. I didn't buy them I wanted to come back home and look on here to see if anyone was talking about it. So I searched and found this thread. I would think if prices were going up in a week someone on here would know about it. He did say, they didn't have the new prices yet, but I could call or come by in few days and they would tell me if and what the increase would be. Any ideas on if this info is accurate and if so I need to buy tickets before the 1st which is fastly approaching. :confused3

Search here, We have a thread about it. AV has pretty much spelled it out and yeah, you want to buy now.
