  • It's worth it

  • I'll pay it, but I'm not happy about it

Okay, it takes a terrorist attack, a recession and a war...all within the span of 18 months for Disney to FINALLY release a worthwhile discount (Fairy Tale packages). This, in response to some dismal quarters of negative growth at the theme parks. So, what do they do next...THEY RAISE THE TICKET PRICES. We don't have enough people coming to the parks...hmmm, what should we do...I know, we'll raise the gate price. Sorry...I just don't know what they are thinking sometimes. Anyway, here's the poll:

While I would have loved to click the last option because that's how I truly feel, I know I will continue to go so I had to go with option two.

I agree with Michelle. This just makes me search out other places to buy my tickets from other than Disney directly.

And Pete, yeah, what are they thinking? Let's throw out FTP and then raise ticket prices, yeah, that'll work. jeesh.

Well, I'm officially the first to think they are nuts. I agree, terrorist attack, poor earnings so finally put a decent package out and then raise prices??????? They are closing disney stores around me and so not an opportunity for my money there. Stock is now at $20.......wow! I was thinking of oneshare but wish I'd gone for it when it was 14. Home depot stock isn't much better though and we *have* that stock LOL>

Since we have already booked packages and the price is set they won't charge us extra for the new prices on arrival will they????:(

This combined with Fairytale Package looks like another way to get people to book complete package and spend their days in Disney parks as opposed to just a few days park only stay off site. It could be a smart marketing move or it could really backfire!

We are booked on Fairytale package for October so right now I am not concerned about price increase - in fact it makes our pkg a better deal.

They should have waited until the first of the year and then just raised them. Or do it after they open Mission:Space and Mickey's Philharmagic. At least that would add 2 attractions to the list and make it seem like you are paying for the newer attractions, rather than paying for the construction of them that you will not be able to ride during your current visit. Doing it right before the busy season of the year just looks like they are trying to gouge the guests....It also seems that they are going after the people who are staying offsite and not getting their package deals.

Disney didn't do an across the board ticket hike. They only raised the price on tickets purchased at the gate or at a resort. This will only affect a very minute percentage of folks here on the DIS.

What Disney is doing is trying to get you to purchase your tickets ahead of time so that they can have use of your dollars longer. It doesn't effect tickets in packages, purchased at TDS, or purchased by phone from DRC.

What it does do is give everyone a now very healthy financial incentive to purchase in advance. The advance purchase discounts now range from a $17.04 savings on a 4 day adult PH to $23.43 for each of the adult PHP's. That makes buying in advance, expecially for families, a big money saver now. No clubs to join, no credit cards to apply for. The old savings prior to the increase was $7.50 to $12.75.

IMHO, I think it was a great move by Disney as it along with things like the FT package bookings will cause more folks to part with more of their money sooner, keeping it away from the other Orlando parks.

Thank you, you took the words right out of my mouth. Most of us here buy our tickets in advance, so there I have no problem with the increase. I have always bought my tickets as either part of the package or at the Disney store.
I think that the people who know and plan their trips do not wait until they get to the gate and buy their tickets.
The FTP would not be affected because the tickets are included and are of course bought in advance.
Any other trip that people will take in the coming months, just buy your tickets on line and you will not have to worry about the increase

I fit into the "What are they thinking" group. The best way to get me to come back more often is to charge more for tickets etc. At least I have an AP and won't have to worry about it for a while.

I have an AP too, Snuggs. I won't have to worry until December. I chose option two because I know I will return. Doesn't mean I'm happy about paying more money, though.

Option 2 - although I think the other posters are correct about the increase only affecting those who purchase at the resort or the gate. The whole ticket pricing structure has kinda kept me confused-I never could figure out what we would pay as DVC members. I finally gave up yesterday and bought AP's--at least the renewal rate will probably save us some money next year(unless that changes, too):(
