Ticket Price Increase Rumor

So I saw Ausdad's post, and ran to aRes to get tickets. We are going to be upgrading to AP for my family, but not my mothers ticket, so we are going to get dinged anyway. Their website keeps telling me my credit card is not going through due to fraud. 2 different types of cards, so I think maybe their prices are increasing this quickly as well.

If you are a passholder and need to renew I would do so ASAP. I just renewed my premium pass online for $629 which is the old rate minus the renewal discount.

It wasn't exactly overnight. it was announced on a Friday and implemented on Monday. And you could still find the old prices at several places online in the week or so after the increase. I remember that one well because we booked my 40th birthday trip as soon as the announcement was made to lock in the old ticket prices.

I've been holding out buying tickets for our trip in August hoping for a good ebates offer on Orbitz. Looks like I should stop waiting and just do it.

I just saw this thread and looked on Orbitz. They are still showing the old prices. We aren't going until August either but I just bought our tickets from them just in case. For a 3 day park hopper it is still $260 for adult & $244 for child compared to the new prices $265 & $254 respectively. They are still offering a free day for 3 or 4 day hoppers. I wanted to hold out for ebates but I ended up going though my Discover card to get 5% cash back so I could still get something back!

I bought a Premium AP yesterday and avoided a $30 increase. I neglected to buy the 5-day hoppers for the rest of my family, and ended up having to pay $25 more than had I bought them. I guess its a wash.

The 5 day parkhopper that I already have in my possession for my May/June trip only went up $5 in price. I still wish that I could have purchased a 7 day parkhopper.

Getawaytoday.com still has the discounted prices.

I'd check around.

ALso, if your local grocery store carries tickets, they usually remain on the shelves for a month or so.

The website still has AP renewals at the old price, but when I go to check out I get an error message: my postal code doesn't fall within the acceptable range for the payment plan! So Frustrating! I do live in Southern California!

Just bought mine and my husbands tickets at the old price. Still need to buy 3 kids tickets but I'm not budgeted to pay those off until August so i will just have to pay the increase then or hope I find a good deal.

Update: I was able to renew my pass online at the old price. I had to pay in full though, for some reason it wouldn't let me do they payment plan

Redeeming Airmiles for Disneyland Tickets:

Attn Canadians who are redeeming Airmiles for Disneyland Tickets:

Just checked Airmiles web site. It looks like the amount of points needed for Disneyland tickets are "unchanged" at this time.

Do not know if Airmiles plan to increase the amount of points needed since the ticket prices have increased.

However, I redeemed points for 5 Day Park Hopper @ 2350 points (Adult) & 2195 points (Child) and I just checked Airmiles and the redemption values are the same.

Sorry ... don't know what the redemption values were for the other Park Hopper tickets since I redeemed for the 5 day ones.

Tickets redeemed now are good until December 2014.

Good luck!

It looks like they raised the price on the SoCal passes, so they are probably just "Sold Out" People who have them may be able to renew them

FWIW, usually the Disney stores/outlets still sell the old price tickets for a few weeks. This happened last time anyway.

Or they're only available if you buy a So Cal Select and upgrade, in lieu of blockout tickets, which they also eliminated.

Edited to add: The website also says that upgrades are subject to passport availability. I wonder if they're now limiting the number of APs.

Edited to add again: OCRegister confirms this.

Also, Disney suspended new sales of its popular Southern California annual passport because of the crowds. Those who already have them can renew them. And those who let Southern California passes expire in the last 90 days can renew them as well.

The parks have been particularly crowded on Sundays – the only weekend day usually available for those with the Southern California passes, which now cost $379 on renewal. A cheaper pass – the Southern California Select at $289 – is blocked out on weekends and is available for new purchases.

Other annual passes – the Deluxe, with Saturday and holiday blackouts, selling for $519, and the no-blackout Premium, selling for $699 – may be suspended in the future.

“Due to the popularity of our annual pass program – and to preserve the guest experience for our annual passholders and all guests – future sales of all annual passes will be subject to availability,” Brown said in the statement. “We continue to offer a variety of other annual passes so that our guests can choose a pass that’s right for them.”

The Southern California passes could be sold again when “renewal rates return to an appropriate level that preserves the guest experience,” Brown said.

Disney rarely suspends annual pass sales, last doing so temporarily in 2001 when Disney California Adventure opened.

When I called this morning, asking about renewing Deluxe when DDs pass expires in August, I was told it will be $40 off of the $519 price, making it $479. It's still cheaper to buy at WAY.com for $475. However, if I wait and buy it with Disney gift cards purchased from Target, I get the 5% savings, making it $455.05. I'm almost afraid to wait, as I don't believe they will give me the $40 renewal discount. When I renewed mine last month, the renewal discount for Deluxe was only $20.
