So, I am reading that I will have to pay the tax increase because I paid my package in full at 45 days on August 2 which was just NOT in time, darn it. How about the ticket increase? Does that affect packages?

Honestly, I am ticked about ANY price increases to a package and, if I have to pay more for tix on this package, I will probably cancel. A price quote should stand, IMO, and they can eat my $10 extra tax or whatever else they decide to increase in the meantime.

I'm not sure, there definitely is a Tax increase that will affect your price.

I called the other day about when I could book a package for the beginning of 2008, and they told me in another month and a half. I asked if the price that I was quoted at the time would be guaranteed, and they said it would only if the prices didn't go up. I'm guessing that they were just talking about the rooms, but it could have meant tickets and dining as well. Good luck! :goodvibes

There was a bit of an increase. When me and my DFH were putting things together and kind of going by estimates based around our basic starting package there was an increase of about 100 more give or take. I knew tax would add to it and never factored it in. the dining plan went up for adults by 1 dollar, but what is so messed up about that is they raised the prices and almost all but 4 or 5 places in epcot are pending on whether they want to be on the plan anymore that's Japan, France, Marraco (sp), Italy, Mexico, China. That's all I can remember as far as inside world showcase in epcot this also includes the counter service and bakeries in those countries. I had 2 ressies I made this past saturday for france, and marakesh then when I went to book rest of the package sunday found all this out so now I am upset as this is our honeymoon and we were looking so forward to those places, also all of downtown disney is also pending on if they want back on the plan or not also. So far Capn Jacks seems to the only one. They increased the cost of the plan, but seems like half of what used to be there about 34 dining places are saying we have not made our minds up if we want on.

Just to clarify: I am not upset about changes, in general, price increases are a fact of life with Disney. I am concerned about possible additional charges to a paid in full package happening next month. We are going in mid-September and I paid off the package before the ticket and tax increases were announced (as far as I know). I had gathered that we'd have to pay for the tax increase, but what about the ticket increases? Anyone have word if that ticket increase will be added to paid in full packages during, say, the free dining period?

My understanding was that increases to the DDP and the trimming of the TS list was effective 1/1/07 ... am I not correct in that understanding? Thanks.

How about the ticket increase? Does that affect packages?

I called CRO on Saturday and asked this same question. The CM said that anyone with existing packages booked for check-in through Dec. 31, 2006 and that had made the initial $200 deposit would not be effected by the ticket increase. She assured me several times that my tickets were "locked in" at the old price and that it wasn't necessary to pay in full before Aug. 6th to avoid the increase.

Thanks, Trip. I will ask too when I call CRO, but what you are stating makes sense.

The ticket increase was for 2007. If you are going in 2006 you are fine. You will only pay the tax increase.

I have paid my package in full and my balance say zero. I can't see them telling me that I owe anything else. They have entered a contract with me and I have paid for it. What price increases they decide to do after the fact is up to them to cover not me. I will tell them just that, too.

prior to the January increase and even though I changed the package to add the free dining and 2 more days to my Park hoppers, I was not charged the higher price. The new increase will not affect 2006 packages. As for the tax increase, I don't think that is within Disney's control. The taxing municipality determines who does and does not pay the increase.

That tax increase kind of hit everyone by surprise. It was not that long ago it was first discussed. And I think many were hoping it would take place January 1, or expecting at least later this year. But it didn't. That's something Disney nor any Orange Co resort has control over.
Osceola Co resort tax is still higher than Orange Co.

You will be told that you have to pay it. It isn't a price increase but a tax rate increase. I wouldn't want to start my vacation off with a fight over a small amount of money. Why not pay it and take it up with the Orange County commissioners?

I paid off our MYW w/ free dining package on 8/5 just in case when I read about the ticket increase (payment was due by 8/14 anyway). I paid the amount it had shown due for months online and it showed a zero balance after the payment. The next day I happened to check it and it shows a balance of an additional $12.42. I assume that's the tax increase? I haven't had a chance to call CRO about it, but I'm really glad I checked. I wonder why they couldn't have added that into the total as soon as they knew about it? :confused3

The same thing happened to me! I paid off the balance of our package on the morning of the 5th. When I looked online on the 7th, it said I still owed $9.66. I did call CRO & confirmed that that amount was due to the tax increase. The CM said that their system had "updated my total amount due" on the evening of the 5th, so it sounds like they are trying to get everything corrected.

Oh well, at least now I think I've made my final "final" payment! :teeth:

While it does sound good in theory, according to the back page of the confirmation statement from Disney, in the first paragraph 'RATES'
"All rates are in US dollars and are subject to change until package is paid in full. After package is paid in full, rate is subject to change due to imposition of taxes or other charges of governmental authorities". So, the $10 or so tax difference isn't worth a fight over, especially when it was part of the contract. For tickets, if you were paid in full, no worries, they won't charge you. But taxes, well, you know the saying :sad2: .
