We have two nights booked at CSR in September. Our package includes two 2-night park hopper passes.
I want to change one of the passes, and only one, to a 5 day PH non-expiration. My AAA TA said I could not make this kind of change.
Can I take the Pass I recieve when I check in at CSR and exchange it at the main gate.

Yes you can. The Lobby Concierge desk at your resort should be able to do it as well.

Sorry but I have another question:

Do you pay the difference between the advertised price of the two tickets or are there additional costs involved?

Anyone know?????

If the exchange is handled correctly, you will pay the difference between the gate prices of the two tickets. You should not lose your advance discount on what you already purchased but you will not get any further discount on the extra days you add.

I thought you paid the difference between the cost of your first ticket and gate price on your new ticket. So if your first ticket had a discount you wind up paying a little more??

would they know at the gate what I paid for that ticket?

If the ticket is ordered from Disney (including 3with packages) or bought at a Disney Store, the cost of upgrading should be the difference between gate price of what you have and gate price of what you want.

Package tickets may be upgraded individually after you get them, that is, after you arrive and check in.

Although they don't know exactly what you paid for the ticket, every ticket has a cash value that they can easily find out. The cash value is less for tickts sold in bulk to some dealers and wholesalers.

I do not know for sure what the rule is on the final dollar cost of upgrading tickets from the various dealers including authorized dealers.

That was the case prior to MYW tickets and that fact is also the cause of many of the upgrading problems people are experiencing at Lobby Concierge.

The intermediate step of promoting the original MYW ticket value to gate price (which is then charged off to an internal account and NOT passed on to the guest) is one which they never did before and many still don't do it. It doesn't matter where the ticket was originally purchased, they all are supposed to be handled the same way.
